Ulanbekov fight off
FlyweightUFC
June 10, 2021
Nam will not face Tagir Ulanbekov at the UFC event on June 19, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
There was no word on why the fight will not take place on June 19 or a possible rebook date. Nam was hoping to bounce back after dropping his last fight to Matt Schnell. We'll have to wait and see if the UFC decides to give this bout another shot in the future.

Draws Ulanbekov this summer
FlyweightUFC
March 24, 2021
Nam will take on prospect Tagir Ulanbekov in a flyweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for June 19, USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Nam lost a split decision to Matt Schnell in January to snap a two-fight winning streak and bring his overall UFC record below .500 at 2-3. He now draws a difficult matchup in Ulanbekov, a protege of Khabib Nurmagomedov that will presumably rely heavily on wrestling. Nam hasn't been taken yet down in five UFC, though he's faced primarily strikers and hasn't been tested greatly in that area. Look for Ulanbekov to put that area to the test, and if he's not successful early, to keep coming with takedown attempts. Both of Nam's UFC wins have came by KO/TKO, and that's exactly what he needs to happen here, even with a two-inch reach disadvantage.
Can't find power shot
FlyweightUFC
January 20, 2021
Nam lost to Matt Schnell via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 28-28) at UFC Fight Island 8 on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Both fighters were able to land in a relatively even Round 1, but it was Nam that landed the biggest shot, connecting with a right hand with roughly a minute left. Schnell had the edge in volume, however, and carried that momentum into Round 2. Nam landed some more power shots, but the striking counts were shifting largely in favor of Schnell as Round 2 came to a close. Wash, rinse and repeat in Round 3, with Nam loading up for the finish but getting peppered by combinations. Nam is a quality flyweight that should remain ranked, but it just wasn't his day Wednesday.
Fight bumped back
FlyweightUFC
December 11, 2020
Nam will now square off against Matt Schnell in a flyweight matchup Jan. 20 on Fight Island, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nam and Schnell were originally set to fight back on Sept. 12 in Las Vegas, but the fight was scratched after Schnell had to be hospitalized due to weight-loss issues less than 24 hours before the two were supposed to weigh-in. It has been moved back about a month this time, though the reason behind the change hasn't been released at this point. Nam is coming off two consecutive victories by TKO and will look to make it a third against Schnell, who last fought in December of 2019. He's listed as a (-125) betting favorite as of early-January.

Second straight knockout victory
FlyweightUFC
September 19, 2020
Nam defeated Jerome Rivera via TKO (punches) at 0:34 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a second straight impressive knockout victory for Nam on the heels of back-to-back decision losses to Sergio Pettis and Kai Kara-France to begin his UFC run. A professional for nearly 15 years, Nam easily picked apart an overmatched Rivera on the feet. The finish came when Nam unloaded a quick low kick before crushing Rivera with a perfectly placed right hand. Nam's ceiling is pretty low considering he will be turning 37 years of age early next month, but he has certainly been impressive in his past two bouts.
