Dominates following opponent switch
Light HeavyweightUFC
March 27, 2021
Menifield defeated Fabio Cherant via submission (Von Flue choke) at 1:11 of Round 1 at UFC 260 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It was a dominant effort from Menifield in a spot in which he was well-positioned to excel. Facing a late-notice opponent who wasn't afforded a proper training camp and entered a half pound overweight, Menifield quickly secured a takedown before displaying excellent mat awareness in choking out the debuting Cherant. Menifield needed this win on the heels of a brief two-fight losing streak. It will be interesting to see if this helps gets the 33-year-old Texan back on track over the long term.
