Suffers first UFC defeat
BantamweightUFC
June 28, 2025
Lima lost to Payton Talbott via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 317 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a disappointing result for Lima in the sense he won Round 1 on all three scorecards and appeared to have a clear path to victory. Felipe did surprisingly well in the striking exchanges early on, but it was clear from the very start that the game plan was to wrestle Talbott. That portion of the fight didn't go so well. Lima landed just 3-of-15 takedown attempts. He did little in terms of his positional advantage with his successful tries, while getting reversed on the mat on more than one occasion. Credit has to be given to Talbott, however, who greatly improved his wrestling game in the span of about six months. Lima had won each of his first two UFC bouts, so his roster spot is plenty secure despite the setback.

Lima will take on Payton Talbott in a bantamweight matchup at UFC 317 on June 28, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Lima has emerged victorious in his two UFC fights to date, most recently winning a decision against Miles Johns in December. He now draws another top prospect in Talbott, who had his hype train derailed a bit with a loss to Raoni Barcelos in January. Lima will give up four inches in height and two inches in reach to Talbott, who also has a significant edge in terms of volume striking. Lima will likely look to his wrestling to close that gap and limit the stand-up exchanges.
Remains perfect in UFC
BantamweightUFC
December 15, 2024
Lima defeated Miles Johns via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Tampa, Florida.
ANALYSIS
Some were surprised Lima was tabbed a -265 favorite against a serviceable veteran in Johns in just his second UFC bout, but Felipe went out and held serve and did so without issue. He looked both fast and explosive in picking up a pair of takedowns and winning the total strike battle by a 60-35 count. Just 26 years of age, Lima has shown an impressive all-around game, similar to what he showed on the regional scene prior to his UFC arrival. Lima is a fighter to keep an eye on moving forward as the calendar pushes towards 2025.
Another fight scheduled
BantamweightUFC
November 8, 2024
Lima is scheduled to compete against Miles Johns in a bantamweight fight at UFC Tampa on Dec. 14, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Lima will look to finish his 2024 with a 2-0 record. He defeated Muhammadjon Naimov back in June. Lima's opponent recently saw his fight against an ex-bantamweight champion (Cody Garbrandt) canceled and is coming off a 2-0 record himself this year.
Late-notice submission victory
BantamweightUFC
June 22, 2024
Lima defeated Muhammadjon Naimov via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:15 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
ANALYSIS
Stepping in for Melsik Baghdasaryan on short notice, Lima displayed plenty of creativity and an excellent submission game to earn the victory in his UFC debut. He scored a Round 3 takedown and was able to take Naimov's back in an instant. The rare-naked choke was immediately clamped on, and Naimov was tapping out moments later. That effort would go on to earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Just 26 years of age, Lima has won 13 fights in a row since dropping his pro debut back in August 2015. The Brazilian is a fighter to keep an eye on moving forward in a loaded featherweight division.
Signs with UFC, fighting Naimov
BantamweightUFC
June 17, 2024
Lima is fighting Muhammadjon Naimov at UFC Saudi Arabia on Saturday, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Naimov was scheduled to fight Melsik Baghdasaryan, who was ruled out from UFC Saudi Arabia because of a shoulder injury. Lima is willing to fight the former with just under one week's notice. Previously the Oktagon MMA Bantamweight Champion before his UFC signing, he will travel to Saudi Arabia with a 12-1 record on a 12-fight win streak that includes six finishes, four KO/TKOs and two submissions.
