Falls as biggest favorite on card
January 22, 2022
Barcelos lost to Victor Henry via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 270 on Saturday in Anaheim.
What a disaster. Entering as by far the biggest favorite on the card at -490, Barcelos ended up being swept on the judges scorecards. While each of the first two rounds were close, Barcelos appeared to fade as the frames went on, while Henry picked up the pace. There appeared to be little separating the two from a technical standpoint, but Henry's cardio was clearly better, and Barcelos crumbled under heavy pressure. It's not a stretch to call this a career-defining defeat for Raoni. He's 34 years of age, competes in arguably the deepest division in the sport and was coming off a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Timur Valiev last June. This is a loss he simply could not afford. The odds are against the Brazilian making any sort of significant run at 135 pounds considering what we have seen from him over the past many months.
New date to face Henry
January 4, 2022
Barcelos is scheduled to face Victor Henry in a bantamweight bout at UFC 270 on Jan. 22, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
The fight was reportedly scheduled for Jan. 15 after being pushed back from January, but it's now on the docket for UFC 270. Barcelos won the first five fights of his UFC career before falling to Timur Valiev in June, while Victor Henry will be making his UFC debut.
Not facing Victor Henry
January 4, 2022
Barcelos' reported Jan. 15 fight against Victor Henry never actually materialized, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
The pair were originally set to meet back on Dec. 18 before Henry was forced to withdraw due to a positive COVID-19 test. Reports at the time indicated that the bout had been rescheduled for Jan. 15, but that's evidently not the case. It's unclear when Barcelos will next step into the Octagon.
Henry fight rescheduled
December 18, 2021
Barcelos will take on Victor Henry (illness) on Jan. 15, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
The pair had been set to square off Saturday, but the bout was canceled on the day it was supposed to take place after Henry tested positive for COVID-19. Henry evidently feels confident in a quick recovery, as the matchup will go forward in less than a month.
Fight called off
December 18, 2021
Barcelos' fight against Victor Henry was taken off Saturday's card after Henry tested positive for COVID-19, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
Both fighters weighed in without incident, but Henry evidently later tested positive for coronavirus. It's not yet clear if the fight will be rescheduled or if Barcelos will take on a new opponent the next time he steps into the Octagon.
