Destroys Cameron Saaiman
BantamweightUFC
March 23, 2024
Talbott defeated Cameron Saaiman via TKO (punches) at 0:21 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
What was expected to be a competitive bout between two talented prospects quickly turned into a rout. Talbott stuffed three takedown attempts from Saaiman in Round 1 and proceeded to batter his opponent on the feet. Cameron survived the first frame, but Talbott opened Round 2 with a knockdown and got Saaiman out of there with some follow-up shots. This was not an easy fight for Payton, but he passed the test with flying colors and earned a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus along the way. The 25-year-old Nevada native remains a fighter to keep an eye on as 2024 continues.

Saaiman up next
BantamweightUFC
January 31, 2024
Talbott is scheduled to compete against Cameron Saaiman in a bantamweight fight at the UFC Apex on March 23, according to Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com.
ANALYSIS
Talbott will look to continue his positive momentum from 2023. That year, he won a UFC contract in Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series and submitted Nick Aguirre at UFC Vegas 82. Saaiman recently suffered his first MMA loss, which should help raise Talbott's spirits.
Submission win in UFC debut
BantamweightUFC
November 18, 2023
Talbott defeated Nick Aguirre via submission (rear-naked choke) at 0:58 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Making his UFC debut after earning a contract on Dana White's Contender Series in August, Talbott certainly didn't look the part of a -800 favorite in Round 1, at which point he was grounded by Aguirre for the entire frame. HIs circumstances improved over the course of the final ten minutes, as Payton did damage on the feet in Round 2 before overwhelming Aguirre on the mat in Round 3. The early adversity will only serve to help Talbott in the long run. Having turned just 25 years of age this past September and with all of seven pro fights under his belt, the Reno, Nevada native will almost certainly have some struggles along the way, but there's clearly some potential long-term upside here.
Will take on Aguirre
BantamweightUFC
August 22, 2023
Talbott will fight Nick Aguirre at UFC Vegas 82 on Nov. 18, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Talbott will have plenty of hype leading up to his official UFC debut. He impressed during Dana White's Contender Series to earn a contract back in August, using his size and mobility to his advantage. His opponent, Aguirre, will have his work cut out for him after a dreadful performance in his opening fight against Dan Argueta back in January.
Dazzles to receive contract
BantamweightUFC
August 8, 2023
Talbot defeated Reyes Cortez via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Talbott was on the wrong end of some heavy shots from Cortes to begin the fight, but the taller fighter slowly found his way into the bout, finishing four-piece combinations with body kicks as part of a rout that began in the second frame. Talbott's fluidity and ability to put strikes together could just make him someone to watch at Bantamweight, but like many lanky fighters, he does seem to take quite a bit of damage before finding his groove. Be that as it may, Talbot will make a nice addition to the organization as he attempts to achieve top-15 status.
