Leans on takedown in victory
Durden defeated Carlos Mota via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Durden has been extremely inconsistent during his now six-fight UFC run, but he had zero issues dominating the debuting Mota. Most of Durden's struggles have been the result of poor submission defense. That was never a potential problem here, as Cody landed 4-of-8 takedowns, good for 12:32 worth of control time, stunning numbers for a 15-minute bout. Nothing in Durden's background suggests there is any sort of prolonged winning streak forthcoming here, but the 31-year-old Georgia native has proven to be a useful member of the UFC roster.

Gets new opponent for Saturday
Durden will now fight LFA flyweight champion Carlos Mota at UFC Fight Night on Oct. 29 after his scheduled opponent, Kleydson Rodrigues, withdrew from the bout for undisclosed reasons, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear why Rodrigues elected to withdraw from Saturday's card, but nevertheless, Durden will look to earn a second consecutive victory when he meets the Legacy Fighting Alliance's flyweight champ in the Octagon on Saturday. Durden is currently 2-2-1 in the UFC after defeating JP Buys via TKO in June, while his new opponent Mota will enter the Octagon boasting a 8-1 professional record.

Set to face Rodrigues
Durden has been confirmed to fight Kleydson Rodrigues in a UFC bantamweight fight on Oct. 29, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Vinicius Salvador was originally scheduled to face Rodrigues, but he has been removed from the card due to undisclosed reasons. Durden's last fight came on June 26, when he defeated JP Buys after only 68 seconds, but he has struggled in terms of consistency of late, though, as he was coming off a submission defeat against Muhammad Mokaev in London this past March before destroying Buys. He owns a 13-4-1 record throughout his MMA career.

Finishes JP Buys in 68 seconds
Durden defeated JP Buys via TKO (punches) at 1:08 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a dominant rebound performance from Durden on the heels of his 58-second submission defeat to Muhammad Mokaev in London this past March. Facing an opponent who was yet to win a UFC bout, Cody turned up the heat early. He landed some significant strikes and was eventually able to force Buys to the mat where he unloaded even further. The fight ended up lasting 68 seconds but it could have been a good 15-20 seconds shorter if referee Mark Smith was paying attention and closed the show when he should have. Durden has been wildly inconsistent since joining the UFC in August 2020, but he is capable of performances such as this one.
