Trey Waters
The Truth

USA
Remains perfect in UFC
Waters defeated Billy Goff via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in St. Louis.
ANALYSIS
Waters showed some positive things in this fight, most notably his consistent ability to remain upright. At 6-foot-5, Trey is the tallest welterweight on the UFC roster. Because of that height, most every opponent he faces is going to try to close the distance and get him to the mat. Goff attempted a dozen takedowns, with Waters stuffing 11 of them. Trey doesn't has massive power, but he does a nice job of picking his spots and piling up the volume, which was enough to get by Goff, as well as earn each combatant a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus. Waters has now won each of his first two UFC bouts despite being submitted in his appearance on Dana White's Contender Series.

Next bout scheduled
Waters will take on Billy Goff in a welterweight fight at a UFC event on May 11, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Waters will look to begin his UFC career at 2-0 after besting Josh Quinian via unanimous decision last April. It'll be his first fight since his UFC debut, while his opponent Goff fought last August. It'll be interesting to see how Waters' significant height advantage (6-foot-5 vs 5-foot-10) plays out in this contest.

Excellent effort in UFC debut
Waters defeated Josh Quinlan via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Easy work. Waters won the LFA Welterweight Championship just a couple weeks ago, but that didn't stop him from accepting this fight on late notice and cruising to a unanimous decision win over Quinlan. Waters used his massive 6-foot-5 frame to stand at distance and hammer his opponent with jabs. It was a highly impressive and competent performance from a guy that entered with all of eight professional fights under his belt. Waters appeared on Dana White's Contender Series last September and was submitted by Gabriel Bonfim, who went on to win his UFC debut in 49 seconds. Kudos to Waters for taking advantage of the opportunity.

Takes debut fight on short notice
Waters will face Josh Quinlan at UFC Vegas 72 on April 29, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a quick turnaround for Waters, who will fill in for Ange Loosa after winning the vacant LFA welterweight title via KO/TKO less than two weeks ago. While the timing may not be ideal, Waters has the ability to succeed due to his well-rounded skillset, as he counts three knockouts and three submissions among his seven professional MMA victories.
