Best WNBA Bets Today: Tuesday, September 2
Phoenix Mercury -7.5 (-108)
DraftKings Sportsbook, 10:15 a.m. CT
Kirien Sprecher: Other than the Aces, there isn't a hotter team in the league than the Mercury. Winners of four straight, Phoenix finds itself battling with Las Vegas and Atlanta for the top seed behind Minnesota. The Fever are also fighting for one of the final playoff spots, but without Caitlin Clark, they've struggled mightily. Indiana has lost four of its last 10, and unless Clark surprisingly makes a return soon, there isn't a clear path to a major turnaround. The more talented team is playing better and should take care of business against an injury-depleted squad at home.
New York Liberty -6 (-112)
DraftKings Sportsbook, 10:20 a.m. CT
Kirien Sprecher: I'm expecting Sabrina Ionescu to suit up tonight after missing three of the past four games. She originally was listed with a foot injury for her first absence but returned to action for one game before missing two straight with a toe issue. If Ionescu suits up, it'll be the first time that the Liberty have had their usual starting lineup (Ionescu, Natasha Cloud, Leonie Fiebich, Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones) since July. And it'll be the first time they've had their entire starting lineup plus mid-season acquisition Emma Meesseman available. That may be the best six-person rotation in the league if they can find a way to click, and Tuesday may be the only chance to take advantage before the lines start to adjust. Betting against Balhalla hasn't been a good strategy this season, but if Ionescu were healthy, I think this line would be closer to double digits.
