The Skinny

Phoenix has pieced together a two-game winning streak, coming off victories over New York (95-82) and Atlanta (65-58) in their last two contests, so they'll look to make it three straight against the Sky. The Mercury also received a boost from Diana Taurasi, who returned from injury three games ago. She still needs to shake off some rust in the shooting department, but she's been able to distribute the basketball in each of her first three contests back, averaging 7.3 assists over that brief stretch. Phoenix has a number of weapons within their starting five, including Brittney Griner, who's averaging 20.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks over 27 games this year. DeWanna Bonner (18.1 PPG) and Leilani Mitchell (13.7 PPG) also supply plenty of firepower on the offensive end of the court. The Mercury fell to the Sky on Aug. 25 by a score of 94-86, and they'll have their work cut out for them as they take the court in Chicago this time around.

Unlike the Mercury, the Sky have dropped two straight games, falling to Minnesota on the road and Dallas, though both games were single-digit losses. Chicago will rely heavily ion Diamond DeShields, who's totaled a double-digit scoring performance in all but four contests in 2019. She registered 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in her squad's loss to Dallas on Thursday. Allie Quigley and Courtney Vandersloot are also two keys to the offense, averaging 14.0 and 11.3 points, respectively. It's also worth noting that the Sky will have home-court advantage in this one, where they're 11-5 on the season.

The Skinny

The Fever are coming off a loss in their last matchup, falling by a score of 87-83 to Los Angeles. Natalie Achonwa missed Thursday's game due to an ankle injury, and her status remains up in the air heading into Sunday's clash. The center averages 9.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this year, though she did come off the bench in three straight games prior to suffering the injury, so in the event she can't go, her absence shouldn't be a huge factor for Indiana. Kelsey Mitchell is the team's scoring leader on the year, averaging 12.7 points to go along with 2.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds over 31 games (19 starts). She's been in a groove of late, putting up 13 or more points in each of her last four matchups despite slotting into a bench role. Mitchell and company will attempt to get back into the win column Sunday evening.

The Lynx have been a solid team at home this season (10-6), which is where they'll square off against the Fever on Sunday. They've secured three straight victories on their home court, defeating Dallas, Las Vegas and Chicago within the last 10 days. Odyssey Sims has played a key role in her team's recent success, pouring in 23 points while dishing out eight assists in her team's last matchup Tuesday against Chicago. Sylvia Fowles also put together her best scoring outing of the season Tuesday, finishing with 25 points and 12 boards. This dynamic duo will aim to inflict more damage against the Fever, who they lost to Aug. 3 on the road 86-75. Minnesota will aim to take advantage of an Indiana squad that owns a suboptimal 102.3 defensive rating.

The Skinny

The Dream have really struggled of late, going 2-11 since July 17, though they did pick up a win against Dallas on Aug. 25. Atlanta only has two players who average double figures -- Tiffany Hayes puts up 14.9 points while Brittney Sykes averages 10.4 points on the year. Hayes has attempted to shoulder the load in recent weeks, averaging 17.1 points over the last 11 games, however, it hasn't resulted in much success for her squad. The Dream will take on a Seattle squad who's gone 10-6 at home this season, though Atlanta did defeat them on their home court the last time these two teams met July 5.

Seattle is coming off a pair of losses, both on their home court, so they'll be eager to get back to winning ways come Sunday. Natasha Howard has been a stud for the Storm throughout the season, putting up 18.1 points along with 8.1 rebounds and 2.2 steals in 30 games. She was held in check during her team's last matchup against Connecticut, however (six points in 27 minutes). Jewell Loyd is also a big piece of the equation for Seattle, as she puts up 12.2 points per game on the year. The Storm run one of the slowest-paced offenses on Sunday night's slate, and the Dream don't necessarily like to work quickly on offense either, which likely mean that this one won't turn into a high-scoring affair.
