MLB Betting: Saturday Best Bets

This article is part of our MLB Picks series.

Previous article: 2-2, 0.08 RWBucks
Season: 81-82-7, -6.17 RWBucks

We have typical split slate on tap Saturday, and I'm focused on a pair of NL games featuring three elite pitchers where runs should be at a relative premium.

Dodgers at Reds, 2:10 p.m. EDT

Starting Pitchers: Max Scherzer vs. Sonny Gray

The Pick: Under 4.5 runs first 5 innings (-134 on FanDuel Sportsbook) for 1 RWBuck

Secondary Pick: Under 8.5 runs (-110 on BETMGM Sportsbook) for 1 RWBuck

This is a pitcher's duel that should feature a good number of missed bats and relatively tempered scoring. Current Dodgers hitters own a collective .153/.232/.271 against Gray, while current Reds bats have a .146/.219/.296 tally versus Scherzer. Mad Max's four-start run that's seen him allow no earned runs and forge a 41:2 K:BB should have a good chance of enduring, while Gray is 5-1with a 2.84 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in his last nine starts.

Cubs at Brewers, 7:15 p.m. EDT

Starting Pitchers: Justin Steele vs. Corbin Burnes

The Pick: Moneyline/total runs parlay: Brewers/under 8.5 runs (+125 on FanDuel Sportsbook) for 1 RWBuck

Secondary Pick: Cubs under 2.5 runs (-110 on FanDuel Sportsbook) for 1 RWBuck

Steele has had his moments, but he's facing a tough matchup Saturday against a Brewers team with a .278 average and .352 wOBA against lefties at home in the last month. Burnes is coming off a combined no-hitter during which he racked up 14 strikeouts in eight innings against the Indians, and he owns a 40:0 K:BB across 14 scoreless frames versus the Cubs in two starts this season.
