Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

We have four more playoff series set to tip off in the NBA on Tuesday, so there will be no shortage of excitement. That also means we have another opportunity to win some money on Yahoo, so here are some players to consider for your entry, as well as a few to possibly avoid.

GUARDS

Chris Paul, OKC at HOU ($34): This is going to be a heck of a series. These two teams underwent significant changes this offseason by making a trade with each other. Paul has been a huge addition for the Thunder and has them in position to make some noise in the playoffs. He crushed the Rockets in their last two matchups, scoring 43.7 and 50.1 Yahoo points, respectively. Expect him to be highly motivated, and productive, throughout this series.

Gary Trent Jr., POR at LAL ($12): Trent has emerged as a key reserve for the Blazers during their time in Orlando. He had five steals in their big win over the Grizzlies on Saturday and has logged at least 34 minutes in each of the last eight games. The added playing time allowed him to score at least 21.4 Yahoo points in six of those contests. At such a cheap salary, he can provide value while also helping out your budget.

Guard to Avoid

Malcolm Brogdon, IND vs. MIA ($27): The Heat have held Brogdon in check the last two games, leaving him to score 28.6 and 29.2 Yahoo points, respectively. This should be a low-scoring series between two defensive teams who both ranked inside the bottom-10 in the league in pace of play during the regular season. On a day loaded with excellent guard options, rolling with Brogdon might be too risky of a proposition.

FORWARDS

Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL vs. ORL ($56): Not much of an argument needs to be made for deploying Giannis any given night. Now that rest and minute limits are out the window, his floor is as high as anyone's. The only concern is that if the Bucks jump out to a big lead against a far inferior team, Giannis could see some added time on the bench in the fourth quarter. However, even if that were to happen, he likely would have put up some impressive numbers to get the Bucks to that point.

Darius Bazley, OKC at HOU ($13): The Thunder have a strong starting unit, but their depth beyond that isn't exactly great. If they are going to make a lengthy run in the playoffs, they are going to need someone from their second unit to step up and provide some support. That player could be Bazley, who has averaged 13 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists across eight games in Orlando. They key is that he logged 28 minutes a night during that stretch compared to his season average of 19 minutes per contest. As long as he remains in that expanded role, he's someone to at least consider for your lineup.

Forward to Avoid

Carmelo Anthony, POR at LAL ($21): This is not a great matchup for Anthony given his reliance on the scoring column to provide value. The Lakers have been excellent on the defensive end with their defensive rating checking in as the third-best mark in the league. They did a good job of limiting Anthony during their first two meetings this season, holding him to 14 points per game on 33.3 percent shooting from the field.

CENTERS

Jusuf Nurkic, POR at LAL ($38): Nurkic put on a show in the Blazers' big win over the Grizzlies. There wasn't an area that he didn't excel in considering he finished with 22 points, 21 rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks. If you want to point to a negative, his five turnovers were less than ideal, but he still finished with 63.2 Yahoo points. He's been a difference-maker since returning from injury and should continue to contribute in multiple areas during this series.

Jeff Green, HOU vs. OKC ($12): With the Rockets going small, Green has become an important part of their frontcourt. Since the season restarted, he's averaged 14.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 26 minutes a night. His ceiling is definitely limited, but at near the minimum salary, he should be on your radar if your looking to fade the top-tier centers in tournament play.

Center to Avoid

Steven Adams, OKC at HOU ($21): This could be a rough series for Adams with how small the Rockets like to play. There is the potential for him to dominate smaller players, but there is also the potential for him to be run out of the gym by them. This is not a slate that is short on quality center options, so it might not be a bad idea to sit back and wait to see how Adams' playing time shakes out in the series opener.
