Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Tuesday brings a seven-game slate in the NBA, including an exciting matchup between the Jazz and Celtics. We also have another opportunity to win some cash on Yahoo, so here are some players to consider for your entries, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC at CHI ($37): Gilgeous-Alexander enters this contest having scored at least 30 points in each of his last three games. He's not only having an excellent season in the scoring column, but he's also averaging 5.0 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. With the Thunder set to play this game without Al Horford (rest) and Darius Bazley (shoulder), expect Gilgeous-Alexander to once again provide value in multiple areas.

Tomas Satoransky, CHI vs. OKC ($11): With the Bulls getting off to slow starts in games recently, they made some changes to their starting lineup Sunday versus the Raptors. One of them was inserting Satoransky into the starting five over Coby White. They earned a win with Satoransky contributing 10 points, six rebounds, seven assists, one steal and two blocks across 26 minutes. That type of well-round production should not come as a surprise given that Satoransky averaged 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.2 steals across 29 minutes per game last season. At near the minimum salary, his new role makes him an appealing option.

Guard to Avoid

CJ McCollum, POR vs. NO ($29): Reinforcements are coming for the Blazers. Not only is Jusuf Nurkic (wrist) nearing a return, but McCollum is expected to play Tuesday. While it's great that the Blazers will get him back, he hasn't been on the floor in two months. Expect him to be on a minutes limit.

FORWARDS

Zion Williamson, NO at POR ($39): With Nurkic still out, the Blazers don't have much size up front, outside of Enes Kanter. Given that they also have the second-worst defensive rating in the league, it's not exactly shocking that Williamson torched them for 54.2 Yahoo points in a February meeting. Look for him to carry a very high floor into their rematch.

Kenyon Martin Jr., HOU vs. ATL ($16): With the Rockets dealing with injuries and in full tank mode, Martin has taken on a significant role. He's played at least 29 minutes in three straight games, helping him score at least 30.8 Yahoo points in each contest. It doesn't look like the Rockets will get any of their key injured players back for this game, which could set up Martin to thrive again.

Forward to Avoid

Larry Nance Jr., CLE at MIA ($17): Nance recently missed 12 games because of injury, but he's played at least 26 minutes in both games since making his return. However, he didn't score more than 19.3 Yahoo points in either contest. The expected absence of Kevin Love (calf) could help Nance, but with the way Martin is playing right now, it's difficult to justify rolling with Nance at a slightly higher salary.

CENTERS

Rudy Gobert, UTA at BOS ($36): Gobert demolished the Warriors on Sunday on his way to scoring 77.1 Yahoo points. While that feat will obviously be difficult to duplicate, he still checks in as one of the safer center options on the slate. He's averaging 40.9 Yahoo points per game for the season and he has scored at least 33.5 Yahoo points in nine of his last 10 games.

Montrezl Harrell, LAL vs. MIN ($20): Like Gobert, Harrell took advantage of a matchup against the Warriors, scoring 41.5 Yahoo points against them Monday. He's now scored at least 37.7 Yahoo points in three straight games and has been aided by the absences of Anthony Davis (calf) and Marc Gasol (COVID-19). Neither player will be back for this favorable matchup against a Timberwolves team that has the fifth-worst defensive rating, so look for Harrell to keep things rolling.

Center to Avoid

Nerlens Noel, NY at PHI ($17): Noel has gone cold, scoring 15 Yahoo points or fewer in three straight games. It's concerning that he logged 24 minutes or fewer in each of those contests. That also coincided with Taj Gibson playing at least 24 minutes in all three of those games. It's no secret that Knicks' coach Tom Thibodeau has an affinity for Gibson, so Noel's playing time could continue to be limited.
