DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

DraftKings is running another fairly sizable Monday slate this week, and there should be plenty of DFS options since half of the teams are expected to score at least 70 points. One of the featured contests on DraftKings is the $12K Heating Up, which pays out $3,000 to the winner. The expected totals and point spreads for each team from RotoWire's Daily Matchups page are included below.

Top Players

Armando Bacot, F, North Carolina ($9,700 DK, $8,700 FD)

North Carolina and Iowa have the highest expected totals on Monday's slate, as each team is expected to eclipse the 80-point mark. The star players for each program have lofty salaries, but Bacot has the chance to provide DFS value if he can continue his recent hot streak against Syracuse's lackluster defense. The center is coming off one of his best games of the season, as he posted 28 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks in 36 minutes during Saturday's win over North Carolina State. He's played at least 36 minutes in each of his last three appearances and has finished with double-doubles on all three occasions. Monday's matchup is expected to be relatively competitive, so Bacot should have plenty of chances to thrive once again.

Adam Flagler, G, Baylor ($7,000 DK, $6,500 FD)

Flagler missed the Bears' Feb. 19 win over TCU due to knee discomfort, but he's been dominant across his two appearances since returning to the court. He dropped a season-high 29 points in last Monday's narrow win over Oklahoma State and has shot 48.5 percent from the floor across the last two games. Flagler has been a fairly reliable contributor for Baylor for most of the season, but he's displayed upside since returning from his injury, so he could provide value at his current salary.

Middle Tier

Jules Bernard, G, UCLA ($6,200 DK, $5,100 FD)

Bernard returned to the starting lineup in Saturday's blowout win over Oregon State since Johnny Juzang was sidelined with an ankle injury, and coach Mick Cronin said Saturday that he considers Juzang to be doubtful for Monday's matchup. As a result, Bernard should have an opportunity to thrive once again. He's started in two of his last three appearances and has shot 43.3 percent from the floor during that time while scoring 16 points in each of his starts. While Bernard has had to share backcourt work when Juzang is healthy, the senior should take on a more prominent role once again Monday if Juzang is ultimately sidelined.

Davion Warren, G, Texas Tech ($4,900 DK, $5,800 FD)

The Red Raiders are the heaviest favorites (-11.5) on Monday's slate, but they have several players with mid-tier and low-range salaries that have the potential to provide DFS value on a slate that doesn't feature many viable players with low-range salaries. Warren went through a rough patch in mid-February when he was limited to just five points while shooting 8.3 percent from the floor during games against Baylor and Texas. However, he's bounced back since then, as he's converted 70.6 percent of his field-goal attempts across the last two games and has averaged 14.0 points per game during that time. While the transfer from Hampton has certainly displayed some inconsistency across the last month, he has plenty of DFS potential if he can remain hot Monday.

Daejon Davis, G, Washington ($4,900 DK, $6,200 FD)

A bonus mid-tier play for this week is Davis, who recently missed five games with a shoulder injury but returned to the court Saturday against Washington State. Although he came off the bench against the Cougars, he played 28 minutes and was involved in several areas en route to 32.8 DK points. He started each of the first 21 games of the season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him move back into the starting lineup Monday. Regardless of whether he serves as a starter against UCLA, he should continue to see plenty of playing time following his absence.

Value Plays

Adonis Arms, G, Texas Tech ($4,800 DK, $5,600 FD)

Moving back to Texas Tech, Arms has been a consistent DFS performer for the Red Raiders recently. He's scored in double figures in four of the last five games and has secured at least five rebounds in each of those five appearances. As a result, he's finished with at least 24.3 DK points in each of those matchups, which would have provided 5.1x value at his current salary. Arms saw a slight decrease in playing time during Tuesday's blowout win over Oklahoma, but his efficient results recently help alleviate his risk, even if the Red Raiders jump out to a big lead Monday.

Connor McCaffery, G/F, Iowa ($3,700 DK, $3,500 FD)

Finding valuable players with a sub-$4,000 salary is a difficult task Monday, but McCaffery has been a relatively consistent DFS performer recently. He's logged double-digit minutes in four of his last five appearances in spite of his bench role, and he's posted at least 10.3 DK points in each of the outings in which he had double-digit minutes. The redshirt senior's results have been limited by a low shot volume for most of the season, but he has the chance to serve as a nice complementary player in DFS lineups that hope to stock up on top-tier talent.
