CFL Betting: CFL Bets and Parlays for Week 14
With the NFL taking center stage Sunday, the CFL offers us an excellent appetizer in the form of a Saturday tripleheader that includes a pair of interesting Week 13 rematches
Read on for a look at which Week 14 CFL betting scenarios catch my eye on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Saskatchewan Roughriders at Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Saturday, Sept. 6, 4:00 p.m. ET)
These two squads played to an entertaining, high-scoring 34-30 game at Mosaic Stadium on Sunday, and this rematch could bring more fireworks. Saskatchewan is actually a slight road underdog to the Bombers, which are just 6-5 on the season but have a 4-1 home record.
Zach Collaros was able to crack the code of the Roughriders defense after Bo Levi Mitchell had struggled badly against it a couple of weeks prior, and the veteran signal-caller should be even more comfortable in his second go-around on his home field. However, the Roughriders have their own savvy veteran field general in Trevor Harris, who spearheaded a balanced attack against Winnipeg that saw him throw for just 219 yards but that also included an 89-yard, one-touchdown effort from top running back A.J. Ouellette.
The two squads could well play to a more defensive-centric game in this Week 14 rematch, and the 9-2 Roughriders have been a tough team to bet against all season. Therefore, we'll extend the spread out just a bit to give Saskatchewan a bit more points in a tough road setting, and despite Harris' modest passing yardage total last week, we'll bank on the savvy vet, who's still averaging 291.4 passing yards per game, having to do a bit more while potentially playing from behind against a Blue Bombers squad that's been stingy in terms of completion rate but that also allowed the second-most completions of 30+ yards (22).

Calgary Stampeders at Edmonton Elks (Saturday, Sept. 6, 7:00 p.m. ET)
The Stamps had a relatively easy time on Labor Day at home against these same Elks, handling Edmonton by a 28-7 score in a game where Vernon Adams only had to put up the ball 23 times and threw for only 162 yards. However, a closer look at the stats reveals Edmonton didn't have as much trouble moving the ball against Calgary as the final score implies.
The Elks actually outgained the Stamps in net offense by a 328-287 margin, and they actually ran a balanced attack that saw Cody Fajardo throw for 255 yards and add another 44 on the ground, while Justin Rankin supplied 48 rush yards in his own right. Meanwhile, despite Adams' modest yardage total through the air, Calgary didn't necessarily encounter much resistance either, as Dedrick Mills repeatedly tore through the Elks' front seven for 106 rushing yards on just 17 carries.
The Elks have a couple of home victories in five games at Commonwealth Stadium, and Edmonton has mostly been appreciably more competitive since Fajardo took over the starting QB job than it showed in the first game. I expect a much closer game this time around, but we'll capitalize on FD's Alt. Spread feature to hedge against what has been an unpredictable CFL season and stretch the line out a good but while also bring down the projected total by a full touchdown.
