Dream11 Fantasy KBO: Wyverns at Twins

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy KBO series.

SK Wyverns (1-6) at LG Twins (4-3)

Thursday, May 14, 5:30 AM EDT

Projected starters

RHP Jong Hoon Park (0-0, 3.60 ERA) vs RHP Tyler Wilson (0-1, 14.54 ERA)

Game Preview

The Wyverns have been one of the worst teams during the 2020 KBO season, posting a 1-6 record in their first seven games. They're riding a five-game losing streak following Wednesday's 14-2 loss to the Twins. The hosts, on the other hand, have won their last three contests and seem to have left a sluggish start on the rear-view mirror after scoring a combined 23 runs in the first two games of the series against the Wyverns. The Twins will go for the sweep Thursday and will send Tyler Wilson to the mound after the 30-year-old righty allowed seven runs in his season debut. The Wyverns will counter with Jong Hoon Park, who allowed just two runs in five frames last week against the Eagles.

Injuries

Hyung Jong Lee, Twins - Out - Wrist

Lee, who suffered a fractured wrist in a preseason game, is expected to return in late May or early June, Newsis News Agency reports. Lee broke the fifth metacarpal in his left hand, but he should be a big part of LG's offense when he returns after hitting .286 with 13 home runs and an .800 OPS last season. Yong-taik Park has received more playing time as a result of Lee's injury.

Tae In Chae, Wyverns - Out - Ribs

Tae In Chae, Wyverns - Out - Ribs

Chae will be out six weeks with a right intercostal injury, KBO analyst Jin-Hyeok Jang reports. Chae has not played frequently for SK this season, but the club will be a bit thin at first base until he recovers from his injury. They should be just fine in his absence, though, as fellow first baseman Jamie Romak has started every game at the position to date.

Jong Wook Ko, Wyverns - Day-To-Day - Ankle

Ko was removed from Wednesday's game in the first inning after injuring his left ankle while catching a fly ball in left field. The extent of Ko's injury is uncertain, but his status will be updated when more details are released.

Jae Won Lee, Wyverns - Out - Thumb

Lee exited Thursday's 8-4 loss to Hanwha with a fractured right thumb, Jeeho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports. SK Wyverns has yet to announce a timeline for Lee's return. Lee was hitless in his first two at-bats before he sustained the injury when he was hit by a pitch in his third plate appearance of the day. SK Wyverns will presumably send Lee in for more tests to determine whether surgery is necessary, but even if he avoids a procedure, he appears likely to miss time on account of the injury. Lee's expected absence further thins a weak KBO catcher pool in which the 32-year-old stood out as one of the top fantasy options coming off a 12-homer, 75-RBI 2019 season. Hyun-seok Lee replaced Jae-won in Thursday's game and would presumably be in store for regular work behind the dish while the latter is sidelined.

Top picks:

Hyun Soo Kim, Twins: Kim has been scorching hot to start the 2020 KBO season. The talented 32-year-old outfielder is coming off a 3-for-5 effort Wednesday and continues to destroy opposing pitchers. He is riding a seven-game hitting streak, including three straight multi-hit performances. He has six RBI during that three-game stretch and is hitting an impressive .484 with a hefty 1.274 OPS to start the 2020 season.

Roberto Ramos, Twins: Ramos has gotten on base at least twice in each of his last four games and has also recorded at least one hit in every single game thus far. The former member of the Colorado Rockies organization has an impressive .852 slugging percentage in his first 27 at-bats, with six of his 11 hits going for extra bases.

Yong Taik Park, Twins: Park doesn't boast the same impressive numbers as some of his teammates, but there's no question he has been a productive bat in the Twins lineup in 2020. He's hitting .282 with a .343 OBP while reaching base in each of his last six contests.

Jong Hoon Park, Wyverns: Park will be responsible for a daunting task, as he's been asked to stop a Twins lineup that has scored 23 runs over its last two games. Park lasted five innings in his season debut May 7 against the Eagles, allowing two runs while striking out four. He will have to bring his A-game to stop the Twins.
