Dream11 Fantasy KBO: Wyverns at Twins

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy KBO series.

SK Wyverns (10-19) vs LG Twins (18-11)

Tuesday, June 9th, 5:30 AM EDT

Projected starters

RHP Geon Wook Lee (1-1, 4.63 ERA) vs RHP Casey Kelly (2-1, 6.12 ERA)

Game Preview

The Wyverns are coming off a strong run of results over their last 10 games, going 7-3 to climb out of last place in the standings. That's a positive even if they still own a 10-19 record, good for second-worst in the KBO this campaign. The Twins, on the other hand, may have gone 2-4 to begin June but still sit in third place, trailing only the Doosan Bears and the red-hot NC Dinos. The Twins will try to start another winning streak by sending Casey Kelly to the mound, while the Wyverns will counter with Geon Wook Lee. Kelly gave up eight runs in his previous start and will need a bounceback performance in this one. Lee was similarly poor, allowing five runs in just three innings of work the last time out. Who will come out on top in this duel of struggling pitchers?

Injuries

Eun Sung Chae – Twins – Day-To-Day – Knee

Jun 7 - Chae (knee) flew out in a pinch-hit at-bat in Sunday's victory over the Heroes. Chae did not start for the second game in a row, but he was at least able to step into the box after being held out entirely Saturday. It's still not entirely clear what type of injury Chae is dealing with, but after taking the

It's still not entirely clear what type of injury Chae is dealing with, but after taking the field Sunday, he should have a chance to rejoin the lineup following Monday's off day.

Hyung Jong Lee – Twins – Out – Hand

May 10 - Lee, who suffered a fractured wrist in a preseason game, is expected to return in late May or early June, Newsis News Agency reports. Lee broke the fifth metacarpal in his left hand, but he should be a big part of LG's offense when he returns after hitting .286 with 13 home runs and an .800 OPS last season. Yong-taik Park has received more playing time as a result of Lee's injury.

Tae In Chae – Wyverns – 10-Day IL – Ribs

May 12 - Chae will be out six weeks with a right intercostal injury, KBO analyst Jin-Hyeok Jang reports. Chae has not played frequently for SK this season, but the club will be a bit thin at first base until he recovers from his injury. They should be just fine in his absence, though, as fellow first baseman Jamie Romak has started every game at the position to date.

Jeong Choi – Wyverns – Day-To-Day – Hamstring

June 7 - Choi (hamstring) struck out as a pinch hitter in Sunday's game against the Lions. Choi did not start Sunday for the second day in a row, but the fact he was at least able to enter the game signals he is not dealing with a serious injury. He could return to the lineup for SK's next game Tuesday against LG.

Dong Min Han – Wyverns – 10-Day IL – Lower Leg

May 29 - Han's shin injury is not as serious as originally thought, so he will return sooner than the original 6-to-8 week timetable, Jae-geun Jeong of Sportschosun.com reports. He was first diagnosed with a microfracture in his right shin bone, but the Wyverns are now saying that Han is out indefinitely with a bruise.

Chang Pyung Kim – Wyverns – 10-Day IL – Shoulder

June 6 - Kim (shoulder) had his stint on the injured list extended Friday, according to koreabaseball.com. It was thought that Kim might only miss a few games as a result of his injury, but he has not stepped on the field since May 24. He will be eligible to come off the injured list as soon as he is healthy, but it remains to be seen when that will be.

Jong Wook Ko – Wyverns – Out – Ankle

May 23 - Ko's recovery from his ankle injury will take longer than expected, and he is now expected to be sidelined until sometime in June, Tae Woo Kim of SPOTV News reports. Ko's original recovery timetable gave him a chance to get back on the field before May came to a close, but he will need a bit more time to get back to 100 percent.

Jae Won Lee – Wyverns – 10-Day IL – Thumb

May 7 - Lee exited Thursday's 8-4 loss to Hanwha with a fractured right thumb, Jeeho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports. SK Wyverns has yet to announce a timeline for Lee's return. Lee was hitless in his first two at-bats before he sustained the injury when he was hit by a pitch in his third plate appearance of the day. SK Wyverns will presumably send Lee in for more tests to determine whether surgery is necessary, but even if he avoids a procedure, he appears likely to miss time on account of the injury. Lee's expected absence further thins a weak KBO catcher pool in which the 32-year-old stood out as one of the top fantasy options coming off a 12-homer, 75-RBI 2019 season. Hyun-seok Lee replaced Jae-won in Thursday's game and would presumably be in store for regular work behind the dish while the latter is sidelined.

SK Wyverns Expected Lineup:

1. Soo Kwang Noh

2. Ji Hoon Choi

3. Jeong Choi

4. Roberto Ramos

5. Min Sung Kim

6. Yong Taik Park

7. Keun-Woo Jeong

8. Kang Nam Yoo

9. Ji Hwan Oh

Top picks:

Roberto Ramos, Twins: Ramos has registered multi-hit performances in three of his last four games, racking up five RBI during that stretch. The first baseman has enjoyed a torrid start to the season and currently leads the KBO in home runs with 12 through his first 29 contests.

Hyun Soo Kim, Twins: Ramos gets most of the praise on the Twins offense, but Kim is similarly dangerous every time he steps to the plate. The left fielder has reached base in six of his last seven contests and enters this game having posted a .282/.333/.410 slash line over his past 10 games.

Casey Kelly, Twins: On the surface, it's quite hard to trust Kelly given his poor performance his last time out, when he gave up eight runs in five innings against the Lions, but he tossed six scoreless innings in back-to-back outings before that rough start. The 30-year-old righty has a good shot at a bounceback performance considering how depleted the Wyverns are ahead of this matchup.

Jamie Romak, Wyverns: Romak has not been included in the team below due to budget constraints, but he would be a good addition for fantasy players looking to assemble a Wyverns-based squad. He has just one hit in his last four games, but has posted a .410 on-base percentage this season while hitting in the middle of a struggling lineup.

Captaincy Options:

1. Roberto Ramos

2. Hyun Soo Kim
