Winning streak hits eight
BantamweightUFC
October 10, 2020
Cortez defeated Stephanie Egger via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Cortez was originally scheduled to face Bea Malecki here before the latter withdrew in late-September due to undisclosed reasons. Cortez has less than ten professional fights under her belt, but she looked like a seasoned veteran compared to Egger. She was calm and composed in a fight that took place in close quarters, and Cortez allowed Egger to generate virtually zero offense outside of one big upkick. Cortez has now won eight fights in a row since dropping her professional debut back in August 2018. The Arizona native won't turn 27 years old until the middle of December.

BantamweightUFC
November 15, 2019
Cortez, who originally weighed in at 136.5 pounds for her fight with Vanessa Melo at UFC Sao Paulo on Saturday, ended up actually making weight after it was discovered that the scale was not correctly calibrated, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Cortez and Melo now enter the fight weighing in at 136 pounds respectively. The two were originally half a pound over the desired weight for their class and hours after their weigh-in, CABMMA issued a statement saying that the scale was calibrated incorrectly and that both Cortez and Melo's weights were adjusted accordingly. Cortez (6-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), is currently favorited to win at -220 over Melo (10-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC).
