Cincinnati Open Tennis Picks: Upset Alert
Jasmine Paolini (+195) vs. Coco Gauff
Gauff seems to be getting her serve back on track and breaking out of the rough patch she's been in since winning the French Open, but Paolini presents a substantial step up in level of competition relative to Gauff's recent opponents, as Gauff doesn't have a top-30 win since Roland Garros. Paolini's a top-10 player and is feeling good about her game after dismantling Barbora Krejcikova 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth round, which had to be a cathartic win since it exacted some revenge for Paolini's loss to Krecjikova in the Wimbledon final last year. The Italian has won both encounters against Gauff this year in straight sets to level their head-to-head at 2-2.
Cincinnati Open Tennis Odds: Lock It In
Carlos Alcaraz (-400) vs. Andrey Rublev
Rublev's capable of redlining effectively long enough to beat anybody in best-of-three -- he's the only player other than Alcaraz with a hard-court win over Jannik Sinner since the start of 2024. That said, the big-hitting Russian has rarely sustained his A-game in 2025, with a 1-4 record against top-15 opponents, including a four-set loss to Alcaraz at Wimbledon. Alcaraz leads their head-to-head 3-1 (2-0 on hard), and this match being in fast conditions could actually be beneficial for the Spaniard, as that will encourage Alcaraz to play offense and capitalize on Rublev's defensive deficiencies rather than settling for defensive tennis that gives Rublev opportunities to beat Alcaraz's speed with power.
Honorable Mention
Iga Swiatek (-600) vs. Anna Kalinskaya
Cincinnati Open Tennis Predictions: Value Bets
Elena Rybakina (+140) vs. Aryna Sabalenka
Rybakina has found success against Sabalenka in their previous encounters. Sabalenka leads their head-to-head 7-4, but all seven of those Sabalenka wins required three sets, and Rybakina is 4-3 in their last seven meetings. The last two Sabalenka victories both came in third-set tiebreaks, and while Rybakina has had some recent struggles in the clutch in general, perhaps the latter can swing more freely here as the underdog against the world No. 1. This match being on a fast hard court should help Rybakina slightly, as her excellent serve is even more effective in these conditions while Sabalenka's huge ground strokes are so powerful everywhere that there are some diminishing returns when it comes to how quickly the ball travels through the court here.
