DFS College Basketball: Tuesday Cheat Sheet

Welcome to the new college basketball cheat sheet, which we're going to try to put out on a near-daily basis moving forward. For the larger slates, we'll include player recommendations and game breakdowns as well. Tuesday Breakdown:

Wisconsin @ Xavier, 6:30 p.m. EST (FanDuel only)

Watch the early tip off here, as the FanDuel slate will get going 30 minutes prior to the one on DraftKings. While those playing on FanDuel will almost be forced to get a piece of this game on a four-game slate, this is one where I advise limiting exposure, which is generally the case when the Badgers are in the pool (unless they get a big opponent tempo boost). Ethan Happ ($8,600) is the highest-priced player on the slate, and rightfully so after a triple-double in the season opener. In a home game against Xavier almost exactly one year ago, he put up 21 points, eight assists and four rebounds, along with a block and a steal. The senior is as good of a double-double threat as any option on the slate, but I generally prefer to spread that salary around a little more. If you want the Badger backcourt, give me Brad Davison ($6,000) over D'Mitrik Trice ($7,100). While Trice was hot in the opener, Davison spends more time with the ball in his hands and is generally more active on the glass. He had 12 points and four steals in last year's matchup with Xavier, and now has another year of experience and a healthy shoulder.

On the Xavier side, Tyrique Jones should be their most productive player this year, but the $7,900 price tag is tough to swallow. Same reasoning behind Ryan Welage ($7,600). One play I don't mind is Paul Scruggs at $5,700. Foul trouble limited him in the opener, but even with Quentin Goodin ($5,900) back from injury Saturday, Scruggs managed to get up 15 attempts from the field and finish with 24 points. He's also had at least six rebounds and four assists in each game this season.

Memphis @ LSU, 7:00 p.m. EST (Both Sites)

This is the game to target tonight, with the highest over/under on the slate and LSU checking in with the highest implied point total by a margin of four points over Colorado. Tremont Waters ($8,900 DK, $8,300 FD) is priced appropriately for the player who will have the ball in his hands the most, but I'm dipping back into the Naz Reid well ($7,700 DK, $8,000 FD). He got a $1,500 price hike from the last slate on FanDuel, so the freshman's ability is no longer a secret. Reid was efficient in just 21 minutes in the opener, but went off for 29 points and seven boards when the game was much tighter Friday. If it weren't for the Duke boys, he'd be a legitimate Freshman of the Year candidate. I think this game stays tighter than the 10.5-point spread suggests, so Kyvon Davenport ($8,200 FD, $8,600 DK) is in play for me on both sites, with a lean to Jeremiah Martin ($7,300 FD, $9,900 DK) on FanDuel due to the ridiculous $2,600 price discrepancy. You won't see one like that often (except in the Temple vs. UGA game, which we'll get to in a second). Davenport had 30 & 10 in the opener, and can carry a lineup even if he slows down a bit. I don't see many lower-priced values in this one, as both these teams are star-driven. However, as I stated in the first sentence, pick this game if you're torn on a tiebreaker between two players.

Georgia @ Temple, 7:00 p.m. EST (Both Sites)

This is another game where price discrepancies between the two sites help define major value plays. Shizz Alston is too pricey for me on DraftKings ($9,500), but you can bet I'll use him for just $7,000 on FanDuel. Georgia doesn't strike a ton of fear in me defensively, and Alston has put up a combined 30 shots in two games. Plus, the game should stay tight enough for him to see another 30-plus minutes. On the Georgia side, Teshaun Hightower ($6,200 DK, $5,400 FD) is in play for me on both sites for a little bit of salary relief. He needed just 20 minutes to put up 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in the opener, and the wing should get more run in a tighter matchup. Back to discrepancies, I like Nicolas Claxton on FanDuel ($6,500) more than DraftKings ($8,000). Yante Manten left a major void in frontcourt productivity, and Claxton looks ready to fill it. He needed only 20 minutes to record 15 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks in the opener.

Georgia Tech @ Tennessee, 9:00 p.m. EST (Both Sites)

Grant Williams ($8,500 FD, $9,700 DK) will get most of the love after going for 31 & 10 his last time out, but Admiral Schofield ($7,500 FD, $8,400 DK) provides a similar ceiling with a little bit of a price break. Look for Lamonte Turner (shoulder), who averaged 10.9 ppg last season, to sit again, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. With Turner out, the Tennessee backcourt of Bone and Bowden could both be in play for salary relief at $6,000 or less on both sites. On the Georgia Tech side, I'll be using my second Alston of the night with Brandon Alston ($4,600 DK, $5,200 FD). He needed just 19 minutes to score 17 points in the opener, and closed last season as Georgia Tech's primary ball handler. While he lacks a bit in peripheral stats, Alston offers similar production to Jose Alvarado ($7,900 DK, $7,400 FD) at a much cheaper price tag.

Additional DraftKings Considerations:

Chris Lykes, Miami ($5,900): 22 points, five rebounds and four assists in the opener, yet under $6K? I'll take it. 38 minutes might be tough to live up to if the game gets out of hand, but this is a good way to get a piece of the third-highest implied point total of the night.

Liam Robbins, Drake ($5,400): The numbers love this play at this price. While it was only Buena Vista, he put up 16 points, six boards and six blocks in just 19 minutes in the opener. Foul trouble a potential concern, but think he competes well with Lucas Siewert in the one-on-one matchup.

Paris Austin, California ($6,000): Cal gets a tempo boost against Hampton, who also happens to be No. 216 in KenPom's defensive efficiency. I like the guy with the ball in his hands the most, especially when it comes to cash games.
