CFL Betting: CFL Bets and Parlays for Week 15
We have an intriguing CFL Saturday double-header on tap, and the two games have pretty disparate offensive expectations. We'll look to capitalize on a potential high-scoring affair in the matinee while also backing a successful day for home favorites in the nightcap.
Read on for a look at which Week 15 CFL betting scenarios catch my eye on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Edmonton Elks at Toronto Argonauts (Saturday, Sept. 13, 3:00 p.m. ET)
This game has a projected total of 56.5 points, a massive figure that's reflective of the season-long defensive generosity of these two teams. Edmonton and Toronto already got together one prior time this season, a Week 11 matchup at Commonwealth Stadium that resulted in a 28-20 Elks victory and saw a combined 784 yards of net offense, implying some points may have been left on the field.
This rematch sees Argos quarterback Nick Arbuckle playing better than ever, as he's compiled six straight games with 316 passing yards or more on his way to a league-leading 3,828. Arbuckle also has 23 touchdown passes, and he's recorded multiple scoring tosses in seven of his last eight contests.
The Elks are good candidates to facilitate another game with at least a pair of scoring throws, considering Edmonton has allowed the third-most offensive touchdowns (31), a league-high 296.1 passing yards per game, and the second-most TD passes (22). Arbuckle threw for 382 yards and just a single TD pass in that aforementioned Week 11 meeting, but as his recent body of work implies, that appears to have been an outlier.
The Argos defense is vulnerable in its own right, allowing a league-high 32.3 points per game and 35 offensive TDs, along with a league-high 7.1 yards per play. Toronto is ranked last in rushing yards per game allowed (108.3), third in passing yards per game allowed (282.3) and has given up the second-most completions of 30+ yards (25), setting Cody Fajardo and his teammates up to do their fair share of contributing to a high-scoring game.
Given the factors cited, a same-game parlay that banks on Arbuckle getting to multiple TD passes yet again and backs the Over of a total we're bringing down by more than a touchdown is very much in play.

Montreal Alouettes at Saskatchewan Roughriders (Saturday, Sept. 13, 7:00 p.m ET)
As alluded to earlier, this game has a fairly opposite outlook scoring-wise, although Montreal's announcement Friday that it would be going back to McLeod Bethel-Thompson at quarterback in place of James Morgan does theoretically give the Alouettes a bit of a boost in offensive expectations.
However, MBT is also a turnover-prone quarterback that has thrown 65 career CFL interceptions and that sports a 4:5 TD:INT this season. The veteran was benched for Morgan earlier in the season after throwing a pick in three straight starts, games in which he personally led Montreal to just 23, six and six points and was pulled in the latter contest for Caleb Evans. He's now up against a very aggressive defense in that of the Roughriders, which entered Week 15 leading the CFL with 34 sacks and 18 interceptions.
The Roughriders have a league-best 10-2 record and impressive +74 point differential, so they've made a habit of recording many of those victories by solid margins. One of those expansive wins came in Week 9 at Percival Molson Stadium against these same Alouettes, a 34-6 thumping where Saskatchewan signal-caller Trevor Harris threw for 289 yards and a pair of TDs and the Riders defense sacked Bethel-Thompson twice, picked him off once and held him to 126 passing yards.
Saskatchewan is an impressive 5-1 at home, while Montreal has a 5-7 mark and -44 point differential overall. Given the talent mismatch and how confident the Riders defense particularly is at this point in time, I feel comfortable with an SGP that brings down Saskatchewan's projected advantage by a full field goal to 4.5 points and banks on Harris getting to at least 225 passing yards against a team that's surrendering 272.5 per game and that's allowed the league's third-highest completion rate (70.8 percent).
