College Football DFS: Night Slate, Week 2

The night slates for DraftKings and FanDuel do not align very well, so we will have to tackle today's article differently.

The best way to get dual-site coverage is to break our recommendations down into groups. With the shared games, I will provide two recommendations per position, one recommendation for the site-specific groups. We'll call the shared games Group A, DraftKings Group B, and FanDuel Group C.

QUARTERBACK

Group A

KJ Jefferson, Arkansas (DK $5,900, FD $9,900) vs. Texas

Jefferson's skills as a runner are what you're targeting with this pick. The Longhorns should be able to break up some plays on passing downs, and if Jefferson can find a lane to get out of trouble, watch out. They'll be playing from behind for most of the game, so he'll be forced to push the envelope with the Razorbacks' limited passing game.

Will Levis, Kentucky (DK $6,300, FD $9,500) vs. Missouri

If the  Wildcats' first game is any indication, you'll get your money's worth with Levis at the helm. The PSU transfer looked right at home against ULM, and while Mizzou is a sterner test, the YAC ability of his wideout corps should help pad his numbers tremendously. Missouri gave up over 300 yards passing in Week 1, so it's a green light for Kentucky.

Group B

Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma (DK $9,900) vs. Western Carolina

No real surprise here. The Heisman candidate faces a potentially sneaky game here and does come at a higher cost, but he's a great cash game guarantee. He went 30-for-39 for over 300 yards in his first game out but was a bit errant with two picks. WCU's defense currently ranks outside the Top 150, so he should have no problems here.

Group C 

Malik Willis, Liberty (FD $11,500) vs. Troy

A DFS bonanza in wait, Willis is in a high total game with a narrow spread - exactly where we want him. Although this will be his first action since late November, one should expect lofty totals from him in this game. He can post video game-like numbers anytime he takes the field and is a weekly 100-yard rushing threat. A FanDuel must.

Also consider: Layne Hatcher, Arkansas State ($7,500)

RUNNING BACK

Group A

Bijan Robinson, Texas (DK $7,700, FD $11,200) @ Arkansas

He's atop both slates, and for a good reason. I'm willing to take a pass on a pricey passer to assure Robinson's place in both cash and GPP formats. There isn't a better running back in college football at the moment. An equal threat as a runner catcher out of the backfield, he should have a field day against the Razorbacks.

Jo'quavious Marks, Mississippi State (DK $6,400, FD $9,400) vs. N.C. State

Marks caught a TD and the air and rushed for two more against Louisiana Tech, and while the WolfPack's passing defense looked solid for the most part, they were also facing a soft South Florida team that couldn't stay competitive. Will Rogers (DK $6,400, FD $9,500) threw for almost 400 yards in Week 1, and he should be able to find Marks early and often. If you employ this dual-threat, Rogers becomes a decent stack for your roster.

GROUP B

Jalen Mitchell, Louisville (DK $6,200) vs. Eastern Kentucky

I'm going to avoid the flock headed Eric Gray's way and get a little unique with Mitchell, who should have a much easier time this week after failing to find paydirt against Mississippi. Eastern Kentucky's rushing defense did not show up in their season opener, and Lousiville's offensive line should be able to give Mitchell some sizeable holes to burst through.

GROUP C 

Ulysses Bentley, SMU (FD $9,200) vs. DeAndre Torrey, UNT (FD $8,200), SMU vs. North Texas

This duel will be won or lost on the ground, and I like both backs in this scenario. The loss to Shane Buechele has put more pressure on Bentley to carry this team, and North Texas is certainly no slouch with a vibrant offensive attack. I wouldn't usually endorse opposing running backs in a lineup, but this game is an exception. Both teams also play very fast, so it wouldn't be surprising to see 80 snaps in this game.

WIDE RECEIVER

Group A

Taj Davis. Washington (DK $3,000,FD $6,300) @ Michigan

The DK price is exceedingly low for Davis, considering the Huskies' injury issues at wide receiver.  Cade Otton is their primary target, and although the O/U on this game is abysmal, I would bet the Over here in a game that could become a shootout if Michigan is slow out of the gate. If the Huskies can get their passing game going with Otton and Davis, things could get interesting.

Charleston Rambo, Miami (DK $5,900, FD $6,700) vs. Appalachian State

Rambo was a standout with Oklahoma, but I can understand his desire to get out of Marvin Mims' shadow in that offense,  We only saw a few glimpses of him in the first game, but I see no reason why Rambo can't become the top offensive target for D'Eriq King. Mike Harley sometimes has trouble getting open, and the rest of the receiving corps lacks experience.

Group B

Mario Williams, Oklahoma (DK $3,000) vs. Western Carolina

Could DraftKings also have gotten this price wrong? Granted, Marvin Mims is the wide receiver most would go to, but Williams caught six passes for 37 yards and a touchdown against Tulane, so it appears Rattler trusts him. It's hard to find a better value play on the DraftKings end of things today.

Group C

Calvin Austin, Memphis (FD $9,500) @ Arkansas State

Austin returns to Memphis after considering the NFL Draft, and their freshman quarterback Seth Henigan certainly has to be happy about it. A young WB might give one pause about Austin, but signs for Henigan were encouraging in camp as he beat out Grant Gunnell for the job. His salary might be too high to risk, but I'll roll with him over the numerous wideouts from SMU, which is the second-best set of targets in this group.
