NHL Saturday Night: Top Betting Picks and Parlay Insights

Montreal Canadiens at Vancouver Canucks

The Canadiens (6-3-0) meet the Canucks (4-4-0) in the first of two regular-season meetings. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET, and it is available on NHL Network.

Montreal swept the season series in 2024-25, winning 5-4 in overtime at home Jan. 6, while posting a 4-2 win in Vancouver as an underdog (+125). The Over cashed in each of the meetings, and the total has gone high in all six meetings since May 9, 2022.

The Habs are playing good hockey this season. They're 6-2-0 in the past eight games after getting trucked 5-2 in the opener Oct. 8, and their two losses are one-goal setbacks, including a 6-5 loss in Edmonton against the Oilers on Thursday night behind Sam Montembeault while playing on no rest.

Jakub Dobes (4-0-0, 1.47 GAA, .950 SV%) is expected to draw the start, with Thatcher Demko (3-2-0, 2.24 GAA, .927 SV%) projected as the starter for the Canucks.

Vancouver is back home for the first time since a 5-2 loss to the Blues on Oct. 13. It went on a five-game road trip, going 3-2-0. The Canucks lost the final two games of the trip, and they managed just two total goals. The Under is 2-1-1 in the past four matchups.

Let's back the Canadiens as short underdogs on the moneyline, while Under.

Ottawa Senators at Washington Capitals

The Senators (3-4-1) and Capitals (6-2-0) battle Saturday night at Capital One Arena in the battle of the national capital cities at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game can be viewed or streamed on ESPN+.

The home team won each meeting in 2024-25, while the Over cashed in each of the battles. In fact, both games were 5-4 results in either overtime or a shootout. In each of the past four games, regulation could not decide a winner, and overtime or a shootout was needed in six of the past eight games in the series.

Ottawa picked up a 2-1 win over the Flyers as a moderate favorite (-145) as the Under (5.5) cashed, while Linus Ullmark (3-3-1, 3.40 GAA, .867 SV%) picked up the victory. The Sens are 2-1-1 in the past four games, and each of those outings have been decided by a single goal.

For the Caps, they topped the Blue Jackets 5-1 as a favorite (-110) as the total pushed (6) at most shops. Washington has won six of the past seven games, and the Under is 3-1-2 in the past six matchups.

After Logan Thompson started in Columbus on Friday, Charlie Lindgren (1-1-0, 2.03 GAA, .932 SV%, 1 SO) is expected to be in between the pipes.

Based on the trends in this series, with six of the past eight going to overtime or a shootout, avoid the temptation of taking the Capitals on the puck line laying the goal and a half. However, it's also not price friendly to take the Sens as the underdog on the puck line. Let's take the Capitals lightly, while siding with the Under.

  • Capitals ML (-128 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
  • Under 6 Goals (-120 at BetMGM)

Edmonton Oilers at Seattle Kraken

The Oilers (4-3-1) take on the Kraken (4-2-2) at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle at 10:00 p.m. ET, and it is on ESPN+.

Edmonton had won nine in a row in this series from Jan. 17, 2023 before the Kraken won 6-1 in the final meeting last season on March 27, 6-1 in Seattle. While the Kraken dominated that game, there was no Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl or Stuart Skinner, while Edmonton was playing in the second end of a back-to-back.

The Oilers won a wild 6-5 game against the Canadiens on Thursday as big favorites (-215), although the Habs covered the puck line as an underdog with the Over (6) easily cashing. Edmonton has scored nine goals in the past two games, its most offensive production in consecutive games this season.

The Kraken blanked the Jets at Canada Life Center on Thursday as moderate underdogs (+175) as the Under (5.5) cashed. Joey Daccord turned aside all 32 shots he faced, while Jaden Schwartz scored two goals, and Jordan Eberle tacked on an empty-net goal.

Edmonton is a little pricey, but it is the play based on its dominance in the series. We'll side with the Under, too, especially if you can catch it at Under 6.5 goals.
