Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

What a busy Tuesday we've got around the rinks of the NHL! There are 11 games on the slate, giving you plenty of options for your daily fantasy hockey lineup. To try and spice up your Guy Fawkes Day, here are some players to target, and to avoid, for DFS purposes.

GOALIE

David Rittich, CGY vs. ARI ($31): Rittich has had an up-and-down season, as he has two shutouts and three games where's allowed at least five goals. However, in his five home starts Rittich has a 2.16 GAA and .925 save percentage. The Coyotes are a little better offensively this year than they've done in the past, but they are still on the road for the second night of a back-to-back.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Jordan Binnington, STL at VAN ($29): While his numbers aren't the level they were in his rookie campaign, Binnington is having another good season, as he has a 2.56 GAA and .917 save percentage. The Canucks have emerged as one of the most formidable offenses to star this year, though, as they've averaged 3.64 goals and 34.0 shots on net per contest.

CENTER

Bryan Little, WPG vs. NJD ($14): Little started the season on the sidelines, to the extent a hockey rink has sidelines, but he's looked good since rejoining the lineup. He's notched five points in only six games. Meanwhile, the Devils have a 3.92 GAA thanks to their .863 team save percentage.

CENTER TO AVOID

Nathan MacKinnon, COL at DAL ($34): MacKinnon is having a great season, even though he's currently without both of his usual linemates, Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog. However, his ceiling is certainly lower without those two beside him. He will bring his one-man band routine on the road to Dallas, where he will likely face Ben Bishop and his 2.33 GAA and .922 save percentage.

WING

Anders Lee, NYI vs. OTT ($18): Lee had 40 goals in his last season with John Tavares, and though his numbers dropped last year he still had 28 goals. This year, he's notched five goals through 13 games, with four assists to boot. The Senators are on the road for the second night of a back-to-back, and Craig Anderson (3.09 GAA, .900 save percentage) will likely be in net.

Andreas Johnsson, TOR vs. LOS ($17): Johnsson is skating on Toronto's top line alongside Auston Matthews, which helps his upside. He's also started 60.2 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, third highest on the Leafs, which also benefits him. The greatest benefit of all, though? Los Angeles has a 4.07 GAA, highest in the NHL.

WINGS TO AVOID

Cam Atkinson, CLM vs. VGK ($20): Atkinson is off to a bit of a slow start, though his 5.6 percent shooting is likely to improve. Maybe not in this game, though. Marc-Andre Fleury, who has a 2.51 GAA and .920 save percentage, is likely to be back in net. Also, two of Atkinson's three goals have come on the power play, and the Golden Knights have the second-ranked penalty kill.

Nino Niederreiter, CAR at PHI ($17): Niederreiter tore it up after joining the Hurricanes last year, but he's off to a slow start to the season. Part of the problem may be that he's only put 27 shots on net through 14 contests. The Flyers don't have the most sterling GAA, but they've only allowed 27.9 shots on goal per contest. That's fewest in the NHL.

DEFENSE

Sami Vatanen, NJD at WPG ($18): Vatanen has been on a nice run of play, as he's tallied six points in his last seven contests. The Finn has also averaged 2:51 per game with the extra man. That bodes well for this matchup, as the Jets have the 30th-ranked penalty kill.

Devon Toews, NYI vs. OTT ($16): Toews has eight points through 13 games, including two points on the power play. He's on the Islanders' top power-play unit, which certainly helps his offensive upside. As I noted earlier, the Senators are on the road for the second game of a back-to-back. Anderson has a 3.09 GAA, which is actually better than his 3.51 GAA last season.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Alex Pietrangelo, STL at VAN ($20): Pietrangelo has five goals and five assists already, though his 11.9 percent shooting is likely to regress. This is the kind of matchup where that could start happening. The Canucks have a 2.36 GAA, top five in the NHL. They also have a top-five penalty kill.

Thomas Chabot, OTT at NYI ($19): Chabot was one of the lone bright spots for the Senators last year, but he doesn't exactly have a lot of talent around him. He's also on the road for the second night of a back-to-back here. The Islanders have kept up their defensive prowess from last season where they led the NHL in GAA. This year, they have a 2.23 GAA.
