Race Preview

NASCAR's Camping World Truck Series makes its first return to Nashville Superspeedway since 2011 in this week's Rackley Roofing 200. The 1.33-mile D-shaped oval first hosted the NASCAR Trucks in 2001 and has held 13 races with 11 different winners. Fantasy players will get the benefit of practice and qualifying ahead of Friday night's race since it's the first time in 10 years the Trucks have been turned loose on the concrete surface. John Hunter Nemechek will be seeking his third consecutive victory this week after taking the checkered flags at Charlotte and Texas to now hold the top spot in the playoff standings. The battle for the 10th and final playoff position is also heating up, with Chandler Smith bringing a slim eight-point advantage over Johnny Sauter into this week's competition.

Previous 10 Nashville Winners

2011 fall - Austin Dillon
2011 spring - Kyle Busch
2010 fall - Todd Bodine
2010 spring - Kyle Busch
2009 - Ron Hornaday
2008 - Johnny Benson
2007 - Travis Kvapil
2006 - Johnny Benson
2005 - David Reutimann
2004 - Bobby Hamilton

Nashville Superspeedway is a 1.33-mile concrete circuit that has a history being difficult to pass on. The last four series races at the circuit have all been won from pole, and six of the 13 total races have been won from the top starting position, too. Only once has a driver come from lower than 20th on the grid to win. The slightly shorter circuit likely will not be one where differing strategies jumble the order without the assistance of well-timed caution periods. Fantasy players will want to pay close attention to practice and qualifying speeds, and focus their selections on the top 15 drivers. The track is expected to race similarly to Darlington and Dover, and four-tire stops will likely be the preference for every stop throughout the race distance. Only six drivers have prior Nashville experience, with Matt Crafton having started all 13 prior series races at the track.

John Hunter Nemechek has proven he can win against the best in the sport on almost any type of circuit. He will have strong competition again this week at Nashville, but is likely to be poised for another victory. Whether he can win three in a row is really the only question left to be answered this week. NASCAR Cup Series regular William Byron will use this week's Truck race to gain seat time at Nashville. The experience will help him in Sunday's race, but he should be a contender alongside Nemechek to battle for the win Friday night, especially considering he was second-fastest in Friday practice. Matt Crafton's Nashville experience should be an asset to fantasy players this week. Having competed in every series race at the track so far, he should have an edge this week. He will be hoping to use that experience to get his first win at the track, which would also be his first win of this season. Johnny Sauter is another experienced contender at Nashville. He has four top-10s from five starts at the track and is also hunting for his first win of 2021. Ty Majeski will make his second Truck Series start of 2021 this week. He raced at Charlotte and finished seventh despite starting 31st. He'll have the chance to qualify, which should give him an even better opportunity for him this week given his top-20 pace in practice. Hailie Deegan may not have had the luck she needed to get as good of a finish in Texas as she was capable of, but she continues to show her promise in the sport each week. She has consistent top-15 speed and just needs some luck and experience to deliver those types of results in each finish.
