FanDuel MLB: Saturday Targets

FanDuel MLB: Saturday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

We've currently got a very limited four-game slate for Saturday evening's main contest. It's going to make it very challenging to differentiate, and after weather wreaked havoc on Friday's slate, it's certainly possible Mother Nature cuts this to a three-game contest with Atlanta-New York seemingly vulnerable. As such, maybe a GPP entry where you get weird and take chances is the ticket.

Pitching

Julio Urias, LAD vs. SF ($11,500): He's far too obvious a pick, but, on the limited slate, he will be difficult to avoid. He's gone for 46 or more FanDuel points (FDP) in four of his last five, topping 50 in three of those, one of which came in his last outing against these Giants (52 FDP). We can nitpick and say the Giants only fan 22.5 percent against lefties, but it's just that, nitpicking.

Ian Anderson, ATL at NYM ($9,000): Anderson's price didn't change from Friday, when Atlanta was rained out, somewhat surprising given Saturday's limited options. The Mets' lineup is simply brutal due to health, posting a meager .287 wOBA and .113 ISO against righties. I always worry about Anderson's efficiency and ability to work deep, but he's gone six or more in three straight and five of six. Assuming the game happens, he'll be heavily used.

Justin Dunn, SEA vs. TEX ($6,700): I'm not willing to flirt with the slate's middle tier arms, as they are overpriced and largely present as injured list activations, giving me questions on how long they'll go. The same concerns exist with Dunn, who has a 5.7 BB/9 ratio, but we're not expecting perfection at the bottom tier price. He's got strikeout upside, and with the Rangers fanning 26.5 percent while walking 9.1 percent against lefties, I have GPP hope he can last five frames.

Top Targets

Nolan Arenado, STL at ARI ($3,600): Cardinal bats are going to be chalk city against Seth Frankoff, so I'm content to take their anchor and differentiate elsewhere. Arenado entered Friday hitting safely in three straight and four of five, twice recording multiple knocks. That's not superb, but it's stable, and, priced down in a favorable spot, he's poised for 4x.

Max Muncy, LAD vs. SF ($3,600): Giants' starter Logan Webb is being pelted by lefties to the tune of a .409 wOBA, 4.73 FIP and a limited 17.7 percent soft hit rate. Muncy brings a .423 wOBA, 175 wRC+ and .262 ISO to the table, and hitting in the upper tier of the lineup, I expect solid run production.

Value Bats

Kyle Seager, SEA vs. TEX ($2,800): We're looking for one big swing from Seager, who's hitting .225 but has nine bombs and 31 RBI. He's got a usable .241 ISO against righties, adding an impressive 48.0 percent hard hit rate. That should lend itself to that one swing against Mike Foltynewicz, who's allowing a .435 wOBA and 7.22 FIP to lefties.

Will Smith, LAD vs. SF ($2,900): I noted Giants' starer Logan Webb's struggles against lefties above, so if not going in on Muncy, I'd assume Gavin Lux ($2,600) is going to be popular. Smith gives me a contrarian option, carrying a team-high .427 wOBA against lefties, adding a .177 wRC+ and .250 ISO in this spot.

Stack to Consider

Diamondbacks vs. Adam Wainwright: Ketel Marte ($3,300), Carson Kelly ($3,200), Pavin Smith ($2,600)

Wainwright has been downright brutal on the road, albeit in a limited sample (13.2 innings), allowing a .426 wOBA and .994 OPS. All three of these options can be considered a value, but stacking Diamondback bats can't be considered popular, so let's ride! Marte brings a .384 wOBA, 144 wRC+ and .200 ISO to the table, while Kelly goes .393/149/.197. Both are priced down due to their recent returns from the IL. Smith meanwhile doesn't have great splits against righties, but entered Friday having hit safely in seven straight, with multi-hit games in three straight. Pair that with Wainwright's .480 wOBA allowed to lefties on the road, and there's clear hope.
