FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Jordan Montgomery, NYY vs KC ($7,000): Montgomery had a rough outing last time out against the Royals but had six straight games of at least 27 fantasy points prior to that. The Royals have been bad against left-handed pitching this season with the second-worst wOBA (.275) and the fifth-worst ISO (.119). Montgomery is averaging over five strikeouts per start and has hit the bonus for a quality start three times.

Catcher

Francisco Cervelli, PIT at ATL ($2,700): Cervelli is averaging a respectable 8.5 fantasy points per game this season, which isn't bad considering Jonathan Lucroy is averaging 7.6 and Victor Martinez is averaging 8.7. Tonight Cervelli will face off against R.A. Dickey, who has struggled against both left and right-handed hitters this season. Dickey's worst split is home against right-handed hitters, who have teed off on him to the tune of a .391 wOBA.

First Base

Marwin Gonzalez, HOU vs DET ($3,100): Gonzalez is quietly having a breakout season at age 28 having notched his 10th home run Sunday. He's been absolutely killing it at home, where he has a .500 wOBA against right-handed pitching, and gets Jordan Zimmermann tonight. Zimmermann has struggled this season with a 6.25 ERA and has given up a .396 wOBA to left-handed hitters. An intriguing punt option tonight is Matt Carpenter against Clayton Kershaw at a rock-bottom price of $1,500.

Second Base

Devon Travis, TOR at MIL ($3,100): Travis is absolutely locked in at the plate right now, posting a 1.224 OPS over his last 14 games. He's been moved up in the batting order to sixth and has 10 RBI and two stolen bases over that span as well. The matchup against Jimmy Nelson is favorable and after the Brewers right-hander gave up .350 wOBA last season to righties, he's giving up a .358 mark thus far in 2017.

Shortstop

Andrelton Simmons, LAA at TB ($2,900): Andrelton is in the midst of a nice run, reaching base in each of his last 10 games with five extra-base hits and two stolen bases. Alex Cobb doesn't offer the best matchup but this pick is more about Simmons being hot over his last 40 PAs at a thin position. Simmons has never face Cobb but his teammates Mike Trout and Albert Pujols have gone a combined 9-for-11 with a home run apiece.

Third Base

Travis Shaw, MIL vs TOR ($4,000): This isn't a cheap price for the position but there's a couple of good reasons to pay up for Shaw tonight. He's averaging a lofty 12.6 fantasy points this season and has been a fixture in the cleanup spot. Shaw has a .368 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season and Joe Biagini isn't a big-time pitching prospect.

Outfield

Ben Gamel, SEA at WAS ($3,000): Gamel has done a respectable job at the plate this season with a .400 OBP and a .861 OPS. While he's not an elite prospect he has won a few big accolades in the minors and should settle in an everyday player for the Mariners. Tonight he gets the lefty-vs-right split against Joe Ross, who has struggles in the majors this season and given up a .450 wOBA to left-handed hitters in a small sample.

Carlos Gonzalez, COL at PHI ($3,000): After a slow start CarGo is starting to heat up with 21.7, 15.4, and 15.7 fantasy points in each of his last three games. While he's not in Coors tonight it's a good matchup in Philadelphia against Zach Eflin. Eflin has given up a .355 wOBA to left-handed hitters during his short career.

Avisail Garcia, CHW at ARI ($3,600): The Diamondbacks are very chalky whenever they're home but it's never a bad idea to look at the team they're playing either. Garcia will benefit from an upgrade in hitting environment and has the righty-vs-lefty split advantage. Garcia has a .471 wOBA against southpaws this season and Patrick Corbin gave up a .384 wOBA to right-handed hitters at home last season.
