Defenses to Avoid:
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Houston Rockets
The Cavaliers would normally be the clear choice, but LeBron James is being rested, which suggests the team may not be going as hard as it could. However, the counter-argument is that without James, perhaps the team relies more on its defense than its offense. Either way, on a Tuesday where the other matchups all look offense-friendly, the Cavs still look like the toughest defense of the night.
Offense to Use:
Charlotte Hornets at Philadelphia 76ers
The 76ers have been defensive slump-busters all season, across all positions. They have a knack for playing very little defense, but still managing to keep games close enough for the opposing starters to get their full allotment of minutes.
Teams on Back-to-Backs:
First game: Warriors, Wizards
Second game: Nets, Bulls, Thunder
Daily Player Recommendations
Kyrie Irving, CLE vs HOU ($6,900): The Cavs are resting LeBron James, which means Irving and Kevin Love should carry more of the offensive load. Plus the Rockets' defense is one of the league's worst, which sets the stage for Irving to put up big numbers.
Nicolas Batum, CHA at PHI ($7,400): Batum averaged 38.8 fantasy points per game over his last five, including 50.3 fantasy points in his last outing against the Bucks. Next up: a 76ers defense that loves to give up points.
Otto Porter, WAS at GSW ($5,400): Porter has re-found his groove, averaging 29.1 fantasy points per game over his last five. The Warriors are terrible against opposing wings, ranking 23rd against small forwards.
Kevin Love, CLE vs HOU ($6,800): Love, like Kyrie Irving, gets a big boost in value with LeBron James sitting. He has scored at least 49.5 fantasy points in two of his last three games, and seems primed for a big game against a Rockets defense that struggles defensively.
Ian Mahinmi, IND vs. CHI ($4,900): The Bulls have been one of the worst defenses against centers all season, especially since Joakim Noah went down. Mahinmi is playing well right now, averaging 37.5 fantasy points per game in his last two.
