Portland Trail Blazers at Los Angeles Clippers

Clippers Throttle Trail Blazers, 116-86
The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the visiting Portland Trail Blazers, 116-86, at Staples Center on Monday.

While there were seven lead changes in the first quarter, Los Angeles cruised to a 30-point win. In fact, they outscored Portland in that first quarter, 31-17, holding a double-digit lead for the final three quarters. A 35-19 third quarter is what put the game to bed, leading by at least 30 for the entirety of the fourth quarter. The Clippers shot 47 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range while holding the Trail Blazers to 38 percent from the field and 22 percent from long range. In addition, Los Angeles had 37 assists to 17 turnovers while Portland had 15 assists to 30 turnovers.

The Trail Blazers (1-2) were led by C.J. McCollum, tallying 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Damian Lillard amassed 12 points, three rebounds and three assists, missing all eight of his three-point attempts. Jusuf Nurkic totaled four points and 10 boards. Anfernee Simons led the bench with 12 points and four rebounds.

The Clippers (1-2) were led by Luke Kennard, providing 23 points, four rebounds and three assists off the bench on 8-of-10 shooting. Reggie Jackson led the starters with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists. Paul George played just three quarters but still tallied 16 points, five assists and eight steals. Terance Mann generated 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals off the bench as well.

Los Angeles will remain home to face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday for their next game. As for Portland, they return home to play the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday as well.
