UEFA Champions League Best Bets for Club Brugge at Atalanta
Club Brugge to win or draw -113
Atalanta are coming off a draw against Juventus in the Serie A over the weekend, but no one would've said anything had they returned empty handed from Turin. They were outshot 24-12, outpossessed 67 percent to 33 and also posted a significantly lower xG than their opponents (1.59 to 0.73). Atalanta endured a 4-0 defeat at the hands of PSG in their UCL opener.
Club Brugge delivered an eye-popping 4-1 win over AS Monaco and have followed that with three straight undefeated in domestic play (W2, D1). Brugge have been turning heads in Europe for a while now, with their 9-1 thrashing of Rangers in the qualifying playoff round, which included a 3-1 victory at Ibrox.
Atalanta might appear to be the stronger team on paper, but they've been underperforming somewhat, while Brugge have demonstrated their ability to compete in Europe. Expect Brugge to come away with at least one point out of this matchup.
UEFA Champions League BTTS bet for Ajax at Marseille
Both teams to score -137
Marseille shocked the world earlier this month with a 1-0 win over PSG in the Ligue 1. Even though they had to settle for a 2-1 loss against Real Madrid in their UCL opener, they looked competitive against one of the best teams in Europe. Their scoring prowess is beyond any doubt, as Les Olympiens have found the back of the net in each of their previous six matches in all competitions, winning four and losing two in that stretch.
The same could be said about Ajax. The Eredivisie giants suffered a 2-0 loss to Inter Milan in the UCL opener, so just like Marseille, they should be desperate to get points if they don't want their qualification chances to get overly complicated.
Ajax have scored goals in each of their competitive matches this season except for the loss at Inter, so it might not be the best idea to doubt their ability in the final third. Given the goal-happy tendencies from both sides, a scenario where both teams find the back of the net looks entirely plausible.
UEFA Champions League SGP for Benfica at Chelsea
SGP: Over 2.5 total goals & both teams to score -109
It's no secret that Chelsea are in a complicated situation having won just once in their last five competitive matches (W1, D1, L3), and that lone victory was a comeback win against League One side Lincoln City in the EFL Cup. Despite the subpar run and the numerous injuries, a list that includes Levi Colwill (knee), Cole Palmer (groin), Wesley Fofana (concussion), Tosin Adarabioyo (calf) and Liam Delap (hamstring), Chelsea's matches have been entertaining. Each of their previous five contests have seen both teams score and over 2.5 total goals.
Don't be surprised if that run continues here. Benfica aren't as goal-happy as the Blues, as they're likely to sit back and operate in a more defensive stance since Jose Mourinho knows a thing or two about getting good results on the road in UCL matches.
However, they lost to Qarabag in the UCL opener, so the Eagles are also in need of getting points in this match. Additionally, Benfica have scored at least two goals in three of their last four competitive matches, and four of their last five have also seen both teams score.
Liverpool at Galatasaray Betting Odds & Best Bet
Galatasaray to cover +1 handicap -121
Galatasaray began their 19th Champions League campaign with disappointment after being blown out by Frankfurt (5-1). Even though that has been their lone defeat this campaign (W7, L1), and their lone loss in competitive action dating back to late March, it's clear that Galatasaray struggle to replicate their domestic success in the European stage. They've won just once in their last 18 Champions League matches, with 12 defeats and five draws over that stretch.
That in mind, it's hard not to see Liverpool as the favorites. The Reds are coming off a last-gasp 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace in the Premier League, and they haven't lost competitive back-to-back matches since March, when they suffered defeats against PSG and Newcastle United in the Champions League Round of 16 and the EFL Cup final, respectively.
Liverpool should be able to take advantage of Galatasaray's defensive woes to win this match, though, since neither of Liverpool's last seven games has been decided by multiple goals, I'm backing Galatasaray to cover the spread.
