FanDuel MLB: Wednesday's Targets

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday's Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

There's a healthy eight-game slate Wednesday, including contests in both Yankee Stadium and Coors Field. Let's sift through the tea leaves and see what we can find.

Pitching

Walker Buehler, LAD vs. STL, ($9,700): The debut of Alek Manoah drew headlines, but I would fade him and expect Buehler to bounce back at home after getting only three strikeouts in his last outing. Those three strikeouts were his lowest total of his season and he should be much sharper against the Cardinals.

Jordan Montgomery, NYY vs. TB, ($7,500): Tampa strikes out at a 37.3 percent rate on the road against southpaws (second worst), and that's over 271 plate appearances, a healthy sample size. Their .240 wOBA shows they struggle against lefties and Montgomery has scored 52 and 58 fantasy points in two of his last four starts, showing his upside.

Top Targets

Adolis Garcia, TEX at COL ($4,500): Garcia has been one of the better stories this season and while he's been a bit quiet lately, this is a prime spot for him in Coors. He has 30-plus point upside and Antonio Senzatela has a 4.97 ERA this season. Find a way to work Garcia into your lineup, even at his hefty salary.

Nate Lowe, TEX at COL ($4,200): Another strong bat going in Coors, Lowe has a .333 career wOBA against right-handed pitchers and gets the favorable lefty-vs-righty matchup in this game. Both he and Garcia will be hitting in favorable RBI spots, and taking both of them seems like a good strategy in a game that should have a lot of runs scored.

Value Bats

Clint Frazier, NYY vs. TB ($2,100): Frazier has improved his approach at the plate over the last week, drawing three walks over his last three games and homering last night. At this salary, he frees up cap space at other positions, and his matchup against Shane McClanahan isn't one to be worried about.

Seth Brown, OAK at SEA ($2,200): Brown should be hitting cleanup and he's basically a boom-or-bust type of player. Over his last 11 games he has 16 or more fantasy points four times but also has games of zero points four times as well. Brown will be facing Chris Flexen and his 4.24 ERA, which is nothing to be worried about.

Stacks To Consider

Twins vs. Matt Harvey: Nelson Cruz ($3,200), Alex Kirilloff ($3,000), Josh Donaldson ($3,000), Jorge Polanco ($2,800)

It's Matt Harvey Day! Anytime he takes the mound he's worth targeting with a stack given his recent history of blowing up. Granted, Cruz is a little banged up but he's capable of a multi-home run game, while Kirilloff could have easily ended up in the "Value Bats" section given his salary. There should be multiple home runs by the Twins and this is a nice pivot from the game in Colorado.

Rangers vs. Senzatela: Garcia, Lowe, Joey Gallo ($4,000), Nick Solak ($3,500)

You can easily go with Willie Calhoun ($3,700) here too as he should be hitting leadoff, but I like Solak because he has duel eligibility at 2B and OF. You're probably going to want to use him at 2B which provides a lot of upside for a player who should have RBI opportunities. Gallo has been scoring a lot of fantasy points lately and somewhat oddly been running with a stolen base in two of his last three games. As with every Coors game, it's not a bad strategy to stack both teams given strength, or lack thereof, of the starting pitchers with Jordan Lyles going for Texas.
