DFS College Football 2025: Underdog Fantasy Picks for Week 5

Each week I share my favorite player props as part of our DFS College Football series.

Make it FIVE straight winning weeks, going 2-1 or 3-0 every week! As the season goes on, the prop lines get sharper, but we can still find an edge with the RotoWire's Picks & Props tool, which uses multiple prediction factors to help decide if we should lean "more" or "less" on all of the player props available across multiple DFS sites and sportsbooks. I use the tool as a starting point to highlight players that I might otherwise miss and to narrow down my options before doing a deeper dive into matchups and trends.

Below are some of the best picks you can make on Underdog this week. I'm 5-0 on quarterback picks this season, so I'm going to press my luck and add a bonus second QB pick this week.

QB Miller Moss, Louisville

It's hard to extract much useful information out of Louisville's offensive output through the first three games, as the Cardinals cruised to easy wins against lesser competition. But it's fair to say that Moss has looked shaky so far. In Week 1, he threw two interceptions against Eastern Kentucky, and he followed that up by only completing 56.5% of his passes for 151 yards against James Madison. He's only averaging 230 yards per game, and now he'll take on his toughest competition of the season in Louisville's first road game.

Pitt hasn't faced the toughest competition either, but it's encouraging that the Panthers haven't allowed a quarterback to top 200 yards against them through three games. In an overtime loss to West Virginia, Pitt's run defense was the weakness, as Tye Edwards turned 25 carries into 141 yards and three touchdowns.

RotoWire's projection for Miller Moss is just 218 yards. I predict he'll finish with about 250 yards. Either way, this is a no-brainer pick this week.

CFB Underdog Pick: Miller Moss LESS than 290.5 pass yards

QB Preston Stone, Northwestern

Like I wrote last week, the RotoWire Picks tool has a way of finding great value props that I would otherwise never find on my own. Like most football fans, I have little interest in this race to the bottom of the Big Ten, but this seems like too big of a number, even against UCLA's poor defense.

It's hard to believe that Stone went from throwing for 3,197 yards, 28 touchdowns and just six interceptions at SMU in 2023 to losing the starting job in 2024 and transferring to Northwestern this year. And he's off to a rough start. In just three games, he already has thrown six interceptions. His accuracy has always been an issue, as he has never completed over 60% of passes in a season.

This is a favorable matchup, but UCLA is even worse against the run than against the pass, allowing 244 rush yards per game - worst among all Power Conference teams. UCLA's offense is nearly as bad as its defense, so I expect this to be a relatively low-scoring, low-yardage game.

CFB Underdog Pick: Preston Stone LESS than 230.5 pass yards

RB Nicholas Singleton, Penn State

Let's shift to a game that we actually want to watch - Oregon at Penn State. It's a rematch of last year's thrilling Big Ten Championship game, which Oregon won 45-37. Singleton ran for 105 yards in that game, while teammate Kaytron Allen led the way with 124 yards.

It has been an easy road to a 4-0 record for Oregon this season, but if last year's results against stiffer competition are any indication, Penn State's star running backs should have a productive Saturday. In addition to the Penn State duo's productive game, Boise State's Ashton Jeanty ran for 192 yards in a 37-34 matchup against Oregon last season, while Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson totaled 181 rushing yards in two games against them.

Dating back to last season, Singleton has run for at least 63 yards in eight of his last nine games. Penn State's goal should be to keep Oregon's explosive offense off the field, so watch for Singleton and Allen to both get plenty of opportunities, as the Nittany Lions attempt to run the ball and control the clock.

CFB Underdog Pick: Nicholas Singleton MORE than 58.5 rushing yards

WR Jordan Dwyer, TCU

Dwyer transferred to TCU after a huge 2024 campaign with 78 catches for 1,192 yards and 12 touchdowns at FCS Idaho. He immediately showed that he can excel at this level, bringing in all nine of his targets for 136 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. He added a five catch, 89-yard effort in his second game before taking a backseat to Eric McAlister, who went for 254 yards last week. Dwyer still received seven targets in that game, so the opportunity continues to be there.

There's room for both Dwyer and McAlister to contribute against Arizona State this week. ASU has allowed 65 yards or more to seven pass catchers in four games.

CFB Underdog Pick: Jordan Dwyer MORE than 62.5 receiving yards
