The San Francisco 49ers will be without two of their biggest stars this week, affecting NFL betting and the team's chances of winning against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
NFL Network reported Thursday morning that Purdy would miss at least two weeks with a turf toe injury (he also has what NFL.com called "an issue in his non-throwing shoulder") and that Kittle is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
How do the 49ers fare when either their starting quarterback or longtime standout tight end are out of the lineup? RotoWire.com set out to give you the answer, along with the best sportsbook promos.

Purdy has only missed four games since becoming San Francisco's starter late in the 2022 season. The former Iowa State star was the 262nd and final player chosen in that year's NFL Draft but he has long since shed the "Mr. Irrelevant" label that comes with being the last player in each year's draft.
He sat out the regular-season finale in the 2023 season. San Francisco had already clinched the NFC West and sat most starters, demonstrating again why fantasy football leagues usually stop before the final week of the NFL season. He also missed team games 11 and 17 last season. For the fourth game he missed, we're counting the NFC Championship Game on Jan. 29, 2023, in which Purdy was injured on the first 49ers drive.
With this week's injury news, Mac Jones is the announced starter for the 49ers against the Saints. The 49ers are still the road favorite, with lines varying from 3 to 3.5 points for Sunday's game in New Orleans, depending on which online betting sites you use.
How Do 49ers Perform When George Kittle Is Out?
| With Kittle | Without Kittle |
W-L Record | 72-54 | 7-12 |
Win Percentage | 0.571 | 0.368 |
Average Points Per Game | 24.9 PPG | 23.3 PPG |
Average Total Yards | 361.4 yards | 366.1 yards |
Customers who like betting NFL player props won't have Kittle to wager on this week against the Saints. In 2019, Kittle had six receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown against New Orleans in a 48-46 victory for the 49ers.
The ninth-year veteran out of Iowa is a six-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time first-team All-Pro with 542 career regular-season catches for 7,405 yards and 46 TDs, plus another 33 receptions for 455 yards and two TDs in the postseason.
These two major injuries had an impact on betting odds for Sunday's 49ers-Saints game. On Tuesday, when both Purdy and Kittle had an uncertain game status, customers using the BetMGM bonus code could have gotten the Saints at plus-4.5 points. As of Thursday afternoon, that spread was 3 points in favor of the Niners.
The only time both Kittle and Purdy have missed a game was that aforementioned 2023 regular-season finale, as they were among several starters rested for the playoffs.
