Fantasy Football Rankings Week 5: Weekly Value Meter

Week 5 - Bye Weeks Begin - ATL, CHI, GB, PIT.

London Game: Vikings vs. Browns

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the fantasy football rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Should I start Patrick Mahomes or Bryce Young?"

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Each week after Week 1, the first set of rankings will be posted late on Tuesday night. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning.

When setting your lineups, make sure to refer to the NFL inactives to ensure all of your

Quarterbacks

1.Josh Allen BUF vs. NE
2.*Patrick Mahomes KC at JAX
Note: Mahomes had his first multi-touchdown game of the season, and it turned out to be four-touchdown effort. Did the return of Xavier Worthy mean that much?
3.*Jalen Hurts PHI vs. DEN
Note: The Eagles' offense cratered in the second half while protecting a lead against the Bucs.
4.Jared Goff DET at CIN
5.*Justin Fields NYJ vs. DAL
Note: Fields remains the ultimate 'better in fantasy' than in real life quarterback.
6.*Justin Herbert LAC vs. WAS
Note: Even before Joe Alt's ankle injury, Herbert was under siege from the Giants' pass rush, but it got out of hand afterwards.
7.*Daniel Jones IND vs. LV
Note: How much differently does the Colts' loss to the Rams play out if Adonai Mitchell doesn't fumble a potential long touchdown across the goal line? Jones threw a late interception in the attempted comeback.
8.Dak Prescott DAL at NYJ
9.Matthew Stafford LA vs. SF
10.Kyler Murray ARZ vs. TEN
11.*Baker Mayfield TB at SEA
Note: Thirty eight of Mayfield's 40 passes went for 140 yards, no touchdowns and an interception. The other two went for 149 yards and two touchdowns - both just absolute lasers.
12.Bo Nix DEN at PHI
13.Drake Maye NE at BUF
14.Sam Darnold SEA vs. TB
15.*Geno Smith LV at IND
Note: Smith has alternated good and bad performances so far, unfortunately with a comically bad game against the Bears in Week 4.
16.C.J. Stroud HOU at BAL
17.Tua Tagovailoa MIA at CAR
18.Bryce Young CAR vs. MIA
19.*Jaxson Dart NYG at NO
Note: Dart injured his hamstring in the win over the Chargers, but he's expected to practice Wednesday. The Giants didn't ask much of Dart downfield, and that will likely continue now that Malik Nabers was out. Dart was impressive with his scrambling skills.
20.Marcus Mariota WAS at LAC
21.Trevor Lawrence JAC vs. KC
22.*Mac Jones SF at LAR
Note: Jones (PCL) might start on Thursday night, due to Brock Purdy aggravating his toe injury in the loss to the Jaguars. Jones was able to practice Monday.
23.Carson Wentz MIN at CLE
24.*Spencer Rattler NO vs. NYG
Note: Rattler kept multiple drives alive with his legs last week, scrambling for 49 yards. He'll need more of that against the Giants' pass rush.
25.*Cooper Rush BAL vs. HOU
Note: Rush is likely to start this week with Lamar Jackson (hamstring) out. He gets a tough draw against the Texans.
26.Jake Browning CIN vs. DET
27.*Cam Ward TEN at ARI
Note: Ward minced no words discussing his and the Titans' offense's performance, which has been a struggle, to say the least.
28.*Dillon Gabriel CLE vs. MIN
Note: Gabriel subbed in late for a faltering Joe Flacco and is expected to start this week against the Vikings, though we're waiting for the Browns to confirm early reports.
29.*Brock Purdy SF at LAR
Note: Purdy aggravated his toe injury in the loss to the Jaguars, and might not be able to play for the short turnaround against the Rams. He did not practice on Tuesday.
30.*Joe Flacco CLE vs. MIN
Note: Flacco was hurt by a few drops from his receivers, but also didn't do himself any favors with a couple of turnovers against the Lions. It looks like Dillon Gabriel will replace Flacco for Week 5.
31.*Jayden Daniels WAS at LAC
Note: Daniels (knee) didn't practice on Friday last week and wasn't able to play - we'll see if he can go this week against the Chargers. If he's cleared to play, he'll be back in my top 10.
32.*Lamar Jackson BAL vs. HOU
Note: Jackson (hamstring) is expected to miss Week 5 against Houston and could miss 2-to-3 weeks. Cooper Rush is expected to start.
33.*J.J. McCarthy MIN at CLE
Note: McCarthy (ankle) might be ready to practice this week, though probably not on Wednesday.

3.James Cook BUF vs. NE
4.Jonathan Taylor IND vs. LV

7.*Omarion Hampton LAC vs. WAS
Note: Hampton took on a workhorse role for the Chargers with Najee Harris out.
8.Quinshon Judkins CLE vs. MIN
9.Ashton Jeanty LV at IND
10.Javonte Williams DAL at NYJ
11.Derrick Henry BAL vs. HOU
12.Travis Etienne JAC vs. KC
13.*Breece Hall NYJ vs. DAL
Note: Hall could get more work than usual now that Braelon Allen (MCL sprain) is out.
14.Kyren Williams LA vs. SF
15.Alvin Kamara NO vs. NYG
16.*Bucky Irving TB at SEA
Note: Irving is still gathering medical opinions about his foot and/or ankle, and his status for this week at Seattle is uncertain.
17.J.K. Dobbins DEN at PHI
18.David Montgomery DET at CIN
19.*Cam Skattebo NYG at NO
Note: Skattebo saw massive volume in Week 4, with 25 carries for 79 yards and two catches for 11 yards, also adding in a two-point conversion.
20.Chuba Hubbard CAR vs. MIA
21.Kenneth Walker SEA vs. TB
22.*Woody Marks HOU at BAL
Note: Coach DeMeco Ryans said he's excited to see how Marks handles an increased workload going forward, after the Week 4 breakout performance against the Titans. Meanwhile, Joe Mixon (foot) isn't close to returning.
23.Trey Benson ARZ vs. TEN
24.*Jordan Mason MIN at CLE
Note: Mason has a really tough draw this week against the Browns. He was disappointing against the Steelers, getting bailed out on a fumble-six early on, while rushing 16 times for 57 yards. It didn't help that the Vikings were playing catch-up, and that they lost multiple offensive linemen to injury.
25.Tony Pollard TEN at ARI
26.TreVeyon Henderson NE at BUF
27.*Rachaad White TB at SEA
Note: White could be in line for a big uptick in playing time if Bucky Irving (foot/ankle) cannot play. Sean Tucker would share duties with him.
28.Chase Brown CIN vs. DET
29.Chris Rodriguez WAS at LAC
30.Isiah Pacheco KC at JAX
31.Rhamondre Stevenson NE at BUF
32.Nick Chubb HOU at BAL
33.Kareem Hunt KC at JAX
34.Zach Charbonnet SEA vs. TB
35.Bhayshul Tuten JAC vs. KC
36.Ollie Gordon MIA at CAR
37.Blake Corum LA vs. SF
38.*Kendre Miller NO vs. NYG
Note: Not only did Miller carry 11 times for 65 yards and a touchdown, but he got a lot of his work early in the game against Buffalo when the game was in doubt. The one thing I don't like about adding him is that Miller doesn't seem to be a part of the passing game, and the Saints are going to be trailing a lot this season.
39.Brian Robinson SF at LAR
40.Jeremy McNichols WAS at LAC
41.Rico Dowdle CAR vs. MIA
42.Jacory Croskey-Merritt WAS at LAC
43.*Miles Sanders DAL at NYJ
Note: Sanders (ankle) was limping to the locker room at one point in the Sunday night tie against the Packers. Meanwhile, coach Brian Schottenheimer said that rookie Jaydon Blue is closer to being active - after being a healthy scratch the first four weeks of the season.
44.RJ Harvey DEN at PHI
45.Ray Davis BUF vs. NE
46.Devin Singletary NYG at NO
47.*Justice Hill BAL vs. HOU
Note: Good luck trying to capture lightning in a bottle with Hill - he out snapped Derrick Henry last week, but the game flow circumstances were weird. At least we know he's Henry's primary backup.
48.Emari Demercado ARZ vs. TEN
49.*Sean Tucker TB at SEA
Note: Tucker has been afterthought for the Bucs so far, but it's possible that Bucky Irving (foot/ankle) might not be able to play this week.
50.Ty Johnson BUF vs. NE
51.*Brashard Smith KC at JAX
Note: Smith is getting more involved in the Chiefs offensive, gathering three catches on four targets last week against the Ravens.
52.Zavier Scott MIN at CLE
53.*Raheem Mostert LV at IND
Note: Mostert only played eight offensive snaps in his 2025 debut, but chipped in with 62 rushing yards and an 11-yard catch. He's clearly the top backup for the Raiders now.
54.*Isaiah Davis NYJ vs. DAL
Note: Davis will be in line for more playing time with Braelon Allen (MCL Sprain) out.
55.Jerome Ford CLE vs. MIN
56.Dylan Sampson CLE vs. MIN

18.Ja'Marr Chase CIN vs. DET
19.A.J. Brown PHI vs. DEN
