Field - 156 entrants
Purse - $8.7M

The Preview

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am serves as the grand finale among the quirky setups along the West Coast Swing, as a combination of actors, athletes, musicians and more each pair with a pro on a three-course rotation before a 54-hole cut precedes Sunday's final round back at Pebble Beach Golf Links. Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Monterey Peninsula are nowhere near intimidating on paper as each par-72 layout measures less than 7,100 yards while featuring wide landing areas without much trouble off the tee, but tiny poa greens emphasize the importance of precision on these shorter approaches. The pro-am format can be dreadful at times despite the gorgeous scenery, drawing one of the weaker fields we'll see this season while a much stronger contingent tees it up overseas at the Saudi International this week. There's essentially no threat for inclement weather in Pebble Beach, and tame winds are expected throughout the tournament as favorable scoring conditions persist.

Yahoo Value Picks

Based on $200 salary cap

Cream of the Crop

Patrick Cantlay - $52

The best player in this week's field by more than 10 Official World Golf Ranking spots, Cantlay is priced just $1 higher than a struggling Jordan Spieth ($51), who's lost an average of 2.6 strokes with his irons per event throughout his last five measured starts. Cantlay's odds to win have climbed to a Rahm-esque level of 6/1 at certain books, so $52 isn't an overpayment in the Yahoo DFS market. Cantlay has placed T3-T11 here at Pebble the past two years, and he hasn't lost strokes from tee to green anywhere since last April's RBC Heritage.

Justin Rose - $41

Rose is second to none in Opportunities Gained over his last 12 rounds, and he's coming off a T6 performance at the Farmers Insurance Open where he ranked fifth in SG: Approach on the South Course at Torrey Pines. Additionally, the 41-year-old Englishman's putting has been quite satisfactory as of late, picking up at least one stroke on the greens in five consecutive outings dating back to the Wyndham Championship. He's only played this event twice, but Rose tied for sixth in his AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am debut in 2016.

Glue Guys

Maverick McNealy - $37

It's officially McNealy chalk week back home at Pebble Beach, where he used to live right off the 15th green before moving to Las Vegas after his graduation from Stanford. The Portola Valley native posted five straight top-30s from the ZOZO Championship to last week's FIO, where he racked up 18 total birdies and two eagles while averaging an elite 1.558 putts per GIR. He finished runner-up here to defending champion Daniel Berger last year, which was preceded by another top-5 result for McNealy at Pebble in 2020.

Lanto Griffin - $35

As gamers flock to McNealy and Jason Day ($35) in this range, Griffin certainly deserves attention as a pivot after gaining a collective nine strokes from tee to green in his last two outings at the American Express and the Farmers Insurance Open. He also got hot with the flat stick en route to his T3 at the AmEx, propelling him to second in Birdie or Better percentage over his last 12 rounds. Griffin tied for ninth in his most recent trip to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am two years ago.

Kevin Streelman - $35

Streelman should be popular as a horse for the course with four career top-10s and six consecutive top-20s here, also dominating the Pro-Am portion alongside playing partner and fellow Scottsdale-area resident Larry Fitzgerald. Streelman gained 3.1 strokes with his irons last week at Torrey Pines, and he's third among this week's field in proximity from 100-125 yards over his past 12 rounds. During this same period, he's top-15 in both scrambling and SG: Around-the-Green as well.

Bargain Bin

Russell Knox - $22

Although he missed the cut at the AmEx on the heels of a top-10 finish in Hawaii, Knox is still No. 1 in GIR percentage over his last 12 rounds and he's 10th on Tour in proximity this season. Knox placed top 15 in three of four AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am appearances since 2018, and he gained 5.2 strokes with his irons on the way to a T7 here last year. He's generally a poor putter, but Knox has actually gained a collective 5.4 strokes on the greens over his last five trips to Pebble.

Pat Perez - $20

This will be Perez's 20th career showing at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he's missed the cut just four times, nearly matching his trio of top-10 finishes. He recently rebounded from three straight missed cuts by tying for sixth at Torrey Pines last week, ranking fifth among the FIO field in SG: Putting and sixth in SG: Approach. The former ASU Sun Devil loves the West Coast Swing, and he's 11th in SG: Putting on poa greens over his last 36 rounds.
