DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

There aren't many viable pitchers on Wednesday night's slate, which means it may be worth it to spend up. I still found one of the smaller favorites that should post respectable numbers for cheap. As a positive, there shouldn't be any delays because of rain with most places having less than a 50 percent chance.

PITCHER

David Price, BOS vs. TOR ($9,700): If you want to go big, Aaron Nola ($11,200) makes the most sense. Price may not reach those levels, but he's hit 27 fantasy points in four of his last five outings. Against the Blue Jays two months ago he allowed six hits and three runs, and still had 25 fantasy points due to eight strikeouts. Toronto hasn't done much in the past month against southpaws with a 25.3 K% and .264 wOBA.

GPP Fade: Patrick Corbin, ARI at COL ($10,200): Corbin is cruising, yet I'm not sure I'd spend up to get him at Coors Field. The Rockies have smashed lefties in the last month with a .222 ISO and .341 wOBA and those numbers are even bigger at home. When Corbin pitched at Colorado back in July he only made it 4.1 innings and struck out six.

Cheap GPP Consideration: Kyle Hendricks, CHC vs. MIL ($8,200): Most of the cheap options are pretty sketchy, but Kendricks provides consistency with at least 17 fantasy points in his last three starts. He's usually good for around 15 points no matter the matchup and he's favored against a Brewers team that owns a 23.0 K% against righty pitchers in the last month. If you want to go cheaper, Chris Bassitt ($4,500) has the matchup to be worthwhile.

CATCHER

Salvador Perez, KC vs. CWS ($3,800): Perez's price isn't terrible considering he's been Kansas City's best bat against southpaws with a .396 OBP in his last 48 plate appearances to go with a .190 ISO for the season. That will come in handy against Carlos Rodon, who has given up eight runs and three homers in his last two starts to go with a 5.32 xFIP against righty bats.

FIRST BASE

Jose Abreu, CWS at KC ($4,600): Abreu had three hits in his return from the DL on Monday so he's good to go in this matchup with a .271 ISO and .391 wOBA against lefties. There's little reason to trust Eric Skoglund, who was on the 60-day DL and returned out of the bullpen last week. In his last two starts back in May, he allowed 15 hits, 12 runs and five home runs.

SECOND BASE

David Fletcher, LAA vs. TEX ($3,800): Fletcher doesn't provide power, but he'll get on base against righty arms with a .335 OBP and that's fine for the price. He also matches up well against Yovani Gallardo, who struggles more against righties with a .412 wOBA allowed to go with 11 runs allowed in his last three outings.

THIRD BASE

Miguel Andujar, NYY at MIN ($4,500): Andujar continues to provide decent value as a power hitter that gets on base almost every game. To go with a .336 OBP against righty hurlers he has a .366 wOBA from 45 extra-base hits (18 HR). Jake Odorizzi faced the Yankees once this year and gave up five runs and two home runs (one by Andujar) in 4.2 innings. That was back in May, but it's hard seeing him having success against this lineup with a .328 wOBA allowed to righty bats.

SHORTSTOP

Xander Bogaerts, BOS vs. TOR ($5,100): It's more than likely Aaron Sanchez gets lit up by the Red Sox in this game. The righty is giving up multiple runs every time out and allowed a couple homers last start. In his lone trip to Boston this year, he gave up nine hits and seven runs and in the start before that, Bogaerts knocked one over the wall against him. If you have the money, Bogaerts is worth it with a .263 ISO and .384 wOBA against righties.

OUTFIELD

Justin Upton, LAA vs. TEX ($4,100): Upton doesn't have a home run in his last 12 starts, but this is a good spot to change that as Gallardo has a 5.56 xFIP and 1.72 HR/9 allowed to righties. For Upton, 22 of his 26 homers have come against righties and that's seen in his .371 wOBA.

Ramon Laureano, OAK at BAL ($4,300): Laureano continues to rope righties with five homers and two doubles in only 56 at-bats. That'll work against Andrew Cashner, who has given up seven homers in his last four starts and has a .365 wOBA allowed to righty bats.

Ryan LaMarre, CWS at KC ($3,200): With a lefty on the mound, LaMarre should be set for another start mostly due to a .463 BABIP in 65 plate appearances against them. Skoglund doesn't have any good numbers from his time as a starter with a .361 wOBA allowed to righties one of the worst.
