Notes:
Some pitchers take a while to round into form after Tommy John surgery. Adam Wainwright (0-3, 9.88 ERA) is clearly one of them. Wainwright's velocity is down nearly two mph over 2010, and he's already allowed three home runs in just 8.2 innings. He should ultimately improve as the season goes along, but for now, cross your fingers when slotting him in there. ... We're projecting Stephen Strasburg to face off against Clayton Kershaw in Dodger Stadium on Friday, April 27. If you're a baseball fan at all, you're tuning into that one. ... It appears A.J. Burnett (eye) will replace Jeff Karstens (shoulder) in the rotation this week. No word on how long Karstens will be out. ... Yeah, I pretty much had Jake Westbrook and Joe Saunders in my April 20 NL ERA pool. Both have 0.64 marks after two starts. ... Aroldis Chapman had more strikeouts (17) than both Roy Halladay (14) and Clayton Kershaw (13). What a waste. ... It's uncertain whether Wily Peralta (recalled Friday) or Marco Estrada will fill in for Chris Narveson (shoulder). Peralta is clearly has the upside, but he's young and could struggle initially. ... Homer Bailey had a nice game Friday (seven innings, one run). I would love to predict a breakout, but his K:BB still stands at just 10:7. ... Ryan Dempster is dealing with a quad injury, so consider him questionable for this week. The always-uninspiring Randy Wells is around if needed. ... Would you rank the Giants starters as follows?: Cain, Bumgarner, Lincecum, Zito, Vogelsong? I would. ... Josh Collmenter allowed four runs in 5.2 innings last time out, but he'll live to make another start while better options await down in Double-A.

Notes:
Colby Lewis took a slight step back last year after an excellent 2010, but so far this year he's off to a great start - 22:1 K:BB in 19.2 innings. He's safe to start each week in all formats. ... Bartolo Colon is the first starter to three wins in the AL, and it's a legitimate three wins as evidenced by a 19:2 K:BB in 27.2 innings. ... Felix Doubront and Dan Bard both have 1.70-plus WHIPs. You have to wonder how long Bobby Valentine will wait before recalling Aaron Cook or flip-flopping Bard and Alfredo Aceves. ... Aaron Crow isn't even the Royals closer, but yet he is tied for the team lead in saves (one) and leads in holds (also one). I just found that odd. ... In other Royals news, Danny Duffy has pitched well in each of his first two starts (2.13 ERA). Now if they can just find Mike Montgomery's command and John Lamb's (Tommy John) health, they will be in business. ... Angels have played in 13 saves (as of Thursday) and have no team saves. ... Drew Hutchinson will be interesting to watch Saturday in his big-league debut. He comes straight from Double-A where he had a 2.16 ERA in three starts. Hutchinson also posted a strong 10.3 K/9IP last year in the minors, so he's worth an immediate pickup in deeper leagues. ... Look for Andy Pettitte's name to appear in next week's rankings assuming all goes well in his final minor league tune-up. ... With a 4.74 ERA and 1.63 WHIP, it's looking like a good time to buy Matt Moore. Perhaps his fantasy owner has soured a bit.
