Yahoo DFS Baseball: Saturday Picks

PITCHER

Ervin Santana, MIN at LAA ($46): Without Mike Trout in their lineup, the Angels resemble a Triple-A club more than a major league team. Meanwhile, Santana continues to chug along, and even though his team has hit a rut, he's managed to get through nearly unscathed. He pitched a great game in his most recent outing against the red-hot Astros but missed out on the win when the bullpen collapsed. He'll find the Angels' lineup much easier to get through.

Rich Hill, LAD at MIL ($40): Now that Hill has apparently put his blister issue behind him, he's a viable again. He only went five innings in his most recent outing, but he looked impressive against a decent Cardinals lineup. He'll get a shot at a reeling Brewers team and hopefully he can go more than five innings. The Brewers continue to struggle without Ryan Braun, and they come in with a 24.2 percent K% this season.

CATCHER

Yasmani Grandal, LAD at MIL ($15):Matt Garza gets the start for the Brewers, and he'll hope to get back on track after two consecutive poor starts. With that in mind, Garza's good start was more of a surprise than his performance in his past two, so I'm expecting the Garza that surrendered 10 runs in his past two starts to come Saturday. Grandal smacked his fifth home run of the season Friday night and he leads all active Dodgers in wOBA against righties this season.

FIRST BASE

Lucas Duda, NYM vs. PIT ($18): I'm generally not a big fan of taking a guy coming off a huge game, but that's the exact situation that Duda is in as he hit two bombs Friday night. With that said, that game wasn't a one-off, as he's hit six home runs in his last nine games. His Saturday matchup against Tyler Glasnow is a solid reason to think he can continue his hot streak, as the Pirates' starter comes in with a 6.95 ERA in 10 starts this season.

SECOND BASE

Daniel Murphy, WAS at OAK ($20):Daniel Mengden takes the hill for the A's, which means we'll want to build at least a mini Nationals stack. Mengden was tagged for five runs in just over 3.1 innings in his first start, and it's not going to get any easier against the Nationals. With Bryce Harper serving a suspension, Murphy should get the most fantasy attention, as he comes in with a team-high .394 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season.

SHORTSTOP

Elvis Andrus, TEX vs. HOU ($18): Andrus comes in with 15 hits and five stolen bases in his last eight games, and he'll now face Lance McCullers, who is a much better pitcher at home than he is on the road. Andrus has fared better against righties this season, posting a .354 wOBA against them as opposed to a .320 wOBA against lefties.

THIRD BASE

Josh Donaldson, TOR vs. NYY ($20): Don't look now, but Donaldson is starting to get his groove back. He has three homers in his past three games and now gets a crack at lefty Jordan Montgomery, who hasn't been good or bad this season, he's just kind of been there. He's generally good for a few runs per game, but he hasn't yet been throttled. Donaldson hits lefties and righties about the same, but Montgomery has been more effective against lefties, so the added advantage goes to Donaldson.

OUTFIELD

Gerardo Parra, COL at SD ($11):Jhoulys Chacin takes the mound for the Padres, and though he's been knocked around quite a bit lately, the worst of his outings have come on the road and this one is at home. With that said, he's been so bad lately, that I feel the need to have at least a little piece of the Rockies' lineup. Parra has been on a tear lately, with 10 hits and six RBI in his past three starts, and his price offers a high upside with little risk.

Brian Goodwin, WAS at OAK ($7): As mentioned earlier, you want to stack in some form against Daniel Mengden and with all good stacks, you need some cheaper options. Goodwin provides us that option at just $7, and with Bryce Harper out, Goodwin is likely to get the start. He's not a highly productive hitter generally, but he's got the lefty/righty matchup and he's in a dangerous lineup.

Aaron Hicks, NYY at TOR ($17):Aaron Judge is getting all the attention this season, but Hicks is also having a fabulous season for the Yankees. Hicks has been especially hot lately, with nine hits in his past four games. Even with all the fire power around him, Hicks is the one who leads the Yankees in wOBA against righties this season. Hicks and the Yankees will face Joe Biagini, who, after two clean starts to open the season, has surrendered 10 runs over his past three games.
