NFL Waiver Wire: Week 18 Pickups

NFL Waiver Wire: Week 18 Pickups

This article is part of our NFL Waiver Wire series.

Week 18 is finally here and while many leagues have wrapped up, there are still some fantasy managers playing in season-long, total points leagues. This week's waiver wire is not as lengthy as usual because there aren't too many players to pick up whom you can actually trust for Week 18. But if you're still playing, we have some options for you.

Thanks for reading this season and hopefully a suggestion or two of mine helped you this season. See everyone again in September.

QUARTERBACKS

PRIMARY TARGETS

Taysom Hill, NO - It's a bit surprising that Hill is less than 50 percent rostered, but maybe it's because he missed Week 16 against the Dolphins. He had a "bad" game by his standards Sunday yet still managed to score nearly 20 fantasy points. The silver lining is that he was playing the Panthers who rank fourth against quarterbacks and this week gets the Falcons who rank 29th. Hill is a top-8 option this week, at minimum. FAAB: $8-$12

RUNNING BACKS

PRIMARY TARGETS

D'Onta Foreman, TEN - Foreman is an exception to our 50-percent rule for appearing in his column as he's rostered in 61 percent of Yahoo leagues. Foreman now has at least 108 rushing yards in three of his last five games and has scored three touchdowns as well during that span. His 26-132-1 rushing line Sunday was particularly impressive given that it was against Miami, the eighth-best team against running backs. This week should be much easier

His 26-132-1 rushing line Sunday was particularly impressive given that it was against Miami, the eighth-best team against running backs. This week should be much easier sledding for Foreman as the Texans rank 30th against running backs. FAAB: $10-$20

SECONDARY TARGETS

Jaret Patterson, WFT - It's tough to tell if Antonio Gibson will be back for the team's season finale, but if he's out, it'll be another good opportunity for Patterson to show what he's capable of. Patterson averaged 4.8 yards per carry Sunday and found the end zone for his second score in the last three weeks. It's a great matchup for him this week against the Giants as New York ranks in the bottom half of the league against running backs. FAAB: $4-$8

WIDE RECEIVERS

SECONDARY TARGETS

Zay Jones, LV - It's tough to figure out which Raiders wide receiver outside of Hunter Renfrow will be dependable week in and week out given that Derek Carr likes to spread the ball around. Jones has scored at least 11 fantasy points in full-point PPR leagues in three consecutive games and has 27 targets in that span.  It's a tough matchup this week against the Chargers' secondary, so temper expectations. FAAB: $3-$6

Cedrick Wilson, DAL - Bad news came Monday for Michael Gallup, who will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. The only good news from the injury is that it was a clean tear and Gallup should be healthy for next season. The injury should open up more snaps and targets for Wilson, who finished Sunday's game with a 6-6-35-1 line and caught a two-point conversion. The problem for Wilson this week is he plays the Eagles, who are the second-best team allowing fantasy points to wide receivers. FAAB: $2-$4

HAIL MARY

Kristian Wilkerson, NE - Wilkerson wasn't on my fantasy radar to start the season but he made a nice splash with his first significant playing time last week. He grabbed two touchdowns and should get work this week with the Patriots seemingly moving on from N'Keal Harry. It'll be a tougher matchup for him against the Dolphins but expecting 6-8 targets seems reasonable. FAAB: $1-$2

DEFENSES

Washington Football Team - It seems like the Giants have completely quit on the season, and the Washington should be able to take advantage of this matchup. While the Washington defense has been hit pretty hard on the injury front, this is about fading the Giants who have scored only 19 points in their last three games. Here's your streaming team for the week. FAAB $3-$6
