Recommended Pickup
Andy Dirks, OF, DET - Prior to missing all of July with an achilles injury, Dirks had been hitting .333/.387/.514 and appeared to have earned a starting job. Dirks was re-instated from the DL at the beginning of August and picked up right where he left off. Since being activated, he has a robust .367/.412/.467 batting line. The 26-year-old Dirks, a 2008 eighth round draftee, appears to have secured a starting spot in the Tigers lineup for most games. Though he always hit well in the minors, he never showed this kind of hitting prowess. He may not hit many home runs or steal many bases, but he should be owned in many leagues for his average and run scoring abilities alone.

Other Recent Recommendations: Chris Carter, Tommy Hunter, David Murphy, Eric Chavez, Michael McKenry
