Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Ivan Nova, PIT at PHI ($35): The National League has been kind to Nova, as he's parlayed the relocation to a 5-0 record with a 2.53 ERA. And while his strikeout potential is limited (32 strikeouts over 46 1/3 innings), at this salary Nova is a high-floor option in a plus matchup. Philadelphia has a .296 wOBA against right-handed pitchers, which ranks second worst in the league.

Robbie Ray, ARI vs. COL ($34): A high-ceiling candidate at an affordable price, Ray owns a 28.4 strikeout percentage and 3.13 ERA at home in the second half. Additionally, Colorado has an underwhelming 86 wRC+ against southpaws this season and is even worse on the road (84 wRC+).

CATCHER

Willson Contreras, CHC at STL ($10): The rookie posted a .377/.459/.679 slash line against southpaws in the minors this season, and he's followed up with a .366 wOBA against lefties in the majors. Jaime Garcia has also allowed a .679 slugging percentage through his past five starts.

FIRST BASE

Mitch Moreland, TEX at HOU ($12): With an affordable salary and .343 wOBA against right-handed pitchers over the past three years, Moreland is a solid flier Tuesday. He hits in a potent lineup, and Brad Peacock has allowed a .361 wOBA to left-handed hitters during his career.

SECOND BASE

Robinson Cano, SEA at LAA ($18): You'll want to take advantage of Cano on Tuesday given his prime matchup. He owns a .392 wOBA against right-handed pitchers this season, and Alex Meyer hasn't made it out of the fourth inning in either of his starts this year. The price isn't prohibitive enough to ignore Cano's upside.

THIRD BASE

Yulieski Gurriel, HOU vs. TEX ($14): Arriving as advertised, Gurriel sports a .394 wOBA against right-handed pitchers despite not owning the traditional handedness advantage. A.J. Griffin is fresh off a drubbing where he allowed eight runs over four innings, too.

SHORTSTOP

Brad Miller, TB at TOR ($14): Look for Miller to carry a low ownership Tuesday because the matchup isn't ideal, with Marcus Stroman allowing a modest .324 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season. Still, Miller owns a .346 wOBA against righties and doesn't break the bank.

OUTFIELD

Carlos Beltran, TEX at HOU ($17): Continuing to pick on Peacock, Beltran owns a .345 wOBA in the second half and sports a .349 mark against righties over the past two seasons. He's a nice against-the-grain lean hitting in the heart of a strong lineup.

Gregory Polanco, PIT at PHI ($14): Despite struggling in the second half (.307 wOBA), Polanco still owns a .342 wOBA against right-handed hurlers this season. It is a limited sample size for Alec Asher, but he's allowed a .422 wOBA to left-handed hitters through his eight career starts.

Josh Bell, PIT at PHI ($11): It's been a smooth start to his career against righties for Bell, as he boasts a .400 wOBA and 155 wRC+. As noted, it's also a plus matchup against Asher, and Bell checks out as a high-end source of cap relief Tuesday.
