WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy
Both Seattle and Washington rank in fourth place in their respective conferences. However, it'd be a stretch to say both teams are going through similar runs of form. The Storm have been hovering around .500 of late but have eclipsed that mark after winning three of their last four games, highlighted by their 95-60 blowout win over the Wings on Friday. Meanwhile, the Mystics are five games below the .500 threshold and enter this game on a three-game losing skid following their 91-81 loss to the Aces on Saturday. The fact that the Mystics are playing this game on the second leg of a back-to-back set should complicate their chances even further.
When analyzing which players to look at from this game, some of the top players for the Storm have been Nneka Ogwumike, Gabby Williams and Skylar Diggins. However, Dominique Malonga deserves attention. She's coming off a 22-point, nine-rebound effort against the Wings and has scored in double digits in seven of her last nine appearances. As for the Mystics, their rookie duo of Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen should continue to wreak havoc on opposing defenses, but that's where the bright spots end for Washington.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy
The Valkyries have been losing ground in the playoff race of late and have been trending in the wrong direction after dropping three games in a row -- the most recent loss came Friday in an 82-72 matchup against the Mercury. However, Golden State remains alive in the postseason picture despite its recent struggles. The same can't be said about the Wings, and Dallas currently has the lowest winning percentage in the league at .243. Riding a four-game losing skid, the Wings had one of their worst outings of the season Friday when losing to the Storm by 35 points.
There aren't many players worth targeting in this matchup when it comes to lineup purposes outside of perhaps Paige Bueckers in Dallas and Veronica Burton in Golden State. Burton has been stellar in recent weeks and is averaging a robust 18.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game over her last five appearances. When it comes to Bueckers, the top candidate for the Rookie of the Year award has averaged 20.8 points per game since the All-Star break, but she struggled massively against Seattle on Friday and finished with 11 points (2-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-7 FT), two rebounds and a steal across 22 minutes in the defeat.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy
The Lynx left their two-game losing skid in the rearview mirror after defeating the Fever by a 95-90 score Friday. That win not only boosted Minnesota's league-best record to 29-7, but it basically seals the top spot in the playoffs for the Lynx -- they have a six-game lead over the Dream in the overall standings. The Fever have been slumping recently and enter this game having dropped three of their last four, including Friday's game against Minnesota. The Fever remain above the .500 record with a 19-17 mark, and they need to turn things around to avoid problems of potentially missing the postseason.
The Fever remain without Caitlin Clark (groin), meaning they'll have to rely on Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston to pull the upset against Seattle. Both players have been productive of late and have had an uptick in usage rate due to the absence of Clark, meaning they could be solid DFS plays despite the team's overall struggles. As for the Lynx, Napheesa Collier (ankle) will likely be able to return, but it's not yet clear whether she'll have any restrictions. Other Minnesota players who could be useful lineup alternatives are Kayla McBride, Courtney Williams and Alanna Smith.
WNBA DFS Picks Today
FanDuel
- Napheesa Collier ($8,400)
- Aliyah Boston ($7,400)
- Veronica Burton ($6,700)
Collier hasn't been officially cleared to play Sunday, but all signs point to her returning to action since she's probable for the game. Even though Collier is likely to return to action after missing the Lynx's last seven games due to a sprained right ankle, it wouldn't be surprising if the star forward operates under a minutes restriction if she's cleared to return. Still, even with a restriction on her minutes, Collier should be a player worth targeting in most lineups. She's been one of the best players in the league this season and has a strong case for an MVP candidacy as the most dominant offensive weapon on the league's best team.
Boston will probably go toe-to-toe against Collier in that Indiana vs. Minnesota rematch, and the star center is another player worth targeting to anchor any potential lineup. Similar to Kelsey Mitchell, Boston hasn't had problems when it comes to carrying the offensive load in Clark's absence. Boston has been extremely productive since the All-Star break, posting averages of 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and a combined 2.4 steals-plus-blocks per game.
Burton is another player who's been delivering at a high level in recent weeks, and she's another player who could easily anchor a lineup in this slate regardless of the operator. Burton finished with 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt), five rebounds, eight assists, a steal and two blocks across 25 minutes in Friday's 81-72 loss to the Mercury, meaning she has now recorded double-digit points and at least five assists in four of her previous five showings. Even though the season-long numbers don't stand out, she should be the Valkyries' go-to option in what figures to be a favorable matchup on paper. That alone gives her a solid floor to be a top option in any slate.
Unlocking Value: WNBA DFS Sleeper Picks
- Sonia Citron ($5,900)
- Iliana Rupert ($4,500)
- Kaila Charles ($3,200)
DraftKings
- Paige Bueckers ($11,900)
- Kelsey Mitchell ($11,100)
- Nneka Ogwumike ($11,000)
Bueckers has one of the highest salaries on both DraftKings and FanDuel, and for good reason. The star rookie has been an impactful player for the Wings throughout her rookie season, and she should be an excellent building block in DFS on Sunday. Even though the Wings are among the worst teams in the league, Bueckers has found a way to produce consistently. Don't be surprised if the rookie floor general is among the best performers once Sunday's slate comes to a close.
Mitchell delivered 27 points (9-20 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT) and five assists across 35 minutes in Friday's 95-90 loss to the Lynx, and she continues to get the job done for the Fever even if the results aren't really accompanying the team. Even though Mitchell has one of the highest salaries on the slate, DFS managers who trust her should reap the benefits. After all, the star guard is averaging a solid line of 23.0 points, 5.3 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 0.8 steals per game since the beginning of August.
Ogwumike is coming off one of her worst outings of the season after putting up four points and three rebounds in the blowout win over the Wings on Friday. However, prior to that matchup, the star center had been one of the most productive players for a rising Seattle team. Since the All-Star break, Ogwumike has averaged 19.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 53.7 percent from the floor. Ogwumike has one of the loftiest salaries on the slate, but she's certainly worth the investment.
Unlocking Value: WNBA DFS Sleeper Picks
- Dominique Malonga ($7,500)
- Natisha Hiedeman ($4,600)
- Laeticia Amihere ($4,300)
