MLB FAAB Factor: Waiver Pickups of the Week

This FAAB article is in addition to the AL and NL FAAB articles that run Sunday. Bids are based on a $100 FAAB budget. Throughout the season, this column will have two goals:

1. Identify FAAB targets for fantasy managers in leagues with Thursday FAAB.

2. Offer a preview of FAAB targets ahead of Sunday's columns.

A group of five starting pitchers for teams who aren't in contention for the postseason have performed well recently and have racked up wins while limiting runs, while several teams have shifted their ninth-inning duties heading into the final few weeks of the regular season. There are plenty of outfielders who have been productive at the plate recently, while several infielders should help to provide a slight boost to ratios and counting stats during the fantasy playoffs.

Starting Pitcher

Jordan Lyles, Rangers: Lyles was roughed up against Cleveland on Aug. 26 when he gave up eight runs in 3.2 innings, but he's righted the ship recently and has recorded quality starts in each of his last three outings. During that time, the right-hander has posted a 1.74 ERA and 0.77 WHIP in 20.2 innings, and he's been rewarded with wins in each of those appearances. He tentatively lines up to face a tough opponent in the White Sox this weekend, but he's been much more effective at stifling production recently. FAAB: $6
