After standalone games Thursday and Friday, we turn our attention to the Sunday slate of action. Top matchups will include the Packers hosting the Lions and the Texans taking on the Rams. Let's dig into the Sunday FanDuel NFL DFS slate and highlight some of the top players to consider.

The Games

A lot of the focus of NFL DFS picks is on individual players. Skills certainly matter, but finding game environments that are likely to promote scoring is a way to narrow the focus of our player pool.

The favorites with the highest totals include the Bengals, Commanders and Broncos.

Value Options

Emeka Egbuka, TB at ATL ($5,000): Chris Godwin will miss at least the first month of the season as he works his way back from an ankle injury. Despite playing just seven games last season, he was targeted 62 times. Mike Evans ($7,500) will be the Buccaneers' top wide receiver, but Egbuka should step in as the team's second-best option. Up first is a great matchup against a Falcons team that allowed the fourth-most receptions to wide receivers last season.

Jayden Higgins HOU at LAR ($4,000): Injuries are already a problem for the Texans, which means they'll need to rely more on their passing game with Joe Mixon (foot) out. The problem with that is Tank Dell (knee) is still sidelined and Christian Kirk is battling a hamstring injury. Even if Kirk plays, he might be limited. Higgins averaged at least 13.1 yards per reception every season in college and could end up being a significant bargain in Week 1 at his cheap salary.

Other Value Options

QB Bryce Young, CAR at JAC ($6,800)
QB Joe Flacco, CLE vs. CIN ($6,600)
RB Ashton Jeanty, LV at NE ($6,400)
RB Tyrone Tracy Jr., NYG at WAS ($5,900)
RB RJ Harvey, DEN vs. TEN ($5,700)
WR Jerry Jeudy, CLE vs. CIN ($6,200)
WR Jauan Jennings, SF at SEA ($6,000)
WR Tetairoa McMillan, CAR at JAC ($5,600)
TE Evan Engram, DEN vs. TEN ($5,300)
TE Brenton Strange, JAC vs. CAR ($5,000)

Stacks to Consider

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns

The duo of Joe Burrow ($8,000) and Ja'Marr Chase ($9,200) should be included in this section a lot this season. Burrow set career highs in passing yards (4,918), touchdowns (43) and completion rate (70.6 percent) last year. The main beneficiary of his success was Chase, who dominated with 127 receptions for 1,708 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.

The Browns gave up a touchdown reception to Chase in both meetings last season, and Burrow combined for five touchdown passes over the two games. This duo will do a number on your budget, but their upsides are as high as it gets.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers had a difficult time stopping the pass last season, finishing tied for the third-most fantasy points per game allowed to quarterbacks. Only five teams allowed at least 240 passing yards per game, with the Buccaneers being one of them. They also gave up the third-most receptions to wide receivers.

Michael Penix Jr. ($6,700) was not afraid to air things out during his rookie season, posting an average target depth of 10.7 yards. When Penix started the final three games of the season, Drake London ($7,000) total 22 receptions for 352 yards and two touchdowns on 39 targets. The Falcons did little to improve their wide receiver depth chart during the offseason, so expect London to remain busy after he accounted for 29.4 percent of their targets last year.

Other Stacks to Consider

Buccaneers – Baker Mayfield ($7,900) + Mike Evans ($7,500)
Dolphins – Tua Tagovailoa ($7,300) + Tyreek Hill ($7,600)
Giants – Russell Wilson ($6,700) + Malik Nabers ($7,800)

High-Priced Heroes

Jonathan Taylor, IND vs. MIA ($8,300)

Daniel Jones ($6,900) has replaced Anthony Richardson ($6,900) at quarterback for the Colts, which means they should rely heavily on their running game again. The Colts were also a disaster at quarterback last year, which resulted in Taylor receiving 303 carries. He averaged 22.9 touches per game, which helped him finish with more than 1,500 total yards. Volume alone makes Taylor a great target for Week 1.

Brian Thomas Jr., JAC vs. CAR ($7,700)

The Panthers allowed 21 receiving touchdowns to wide receivers last year, which tied for the second-most in the league. They also allowed the 10th-most passing yards per game. Thomas ended last season with at least seven receptions and 91 receiving yards in four straight games, helping him to 10 games with at least 80 receiving yards. In a matchup between two teams with bad defenses, Thomas should receive ample opportunities to thrive.

The Smash Spot

Bijan Robinson, ATL vs. TB ($8,800)

After receiving 214 carries during his rookie season, Robinson was given 304 last year. He remained efficient, averaging 4.8 yards per carry, and increased his total touchdowns to 15 after posting eight scores during his rookie season. In two meetings with the Buccaneers last season, Robinson combined for 183 yards and a touchdown. It's worth noting that Robinson has posted at least 58 receptions in both of his NFL seasons. Last year, the Buccaneers were tied for the fifth-most receptions allowed to running backs in the league.
