WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy
The first game of the day is a matchup against two teams on opposite ends of the WNBA standings and also a contest that we saw just two nights ago on Friday, a battle that resulted in Connecticut coming away with a 16-point win at home.
New York has been on a slide as of late as it tries to get healthy and back to full strength with key absences to Breanna Stewart (leg), Nyara Sabally (knee) and others. Friday's loss to the Sun pushed the Liberty's losing streak to four straight, putting them a handful of games back of the top spot in the standings with a record of 17-10. During the four-game skid, New York has struggled on both ends of the floor, ranking ninth in the WNBA in offensive rating and 10th in defensive rating. With Stewart out likely for a few more weeks yet, expect Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones to step up Sunday. Ionescu has averaged 23.7 points and Jones has averaged 14.7 points over the last three games without Stewart.
Connecticut surprised many with Friday's victory over New York, given it was just the fifth win on the season with the Sun sitting at the bottom of the WNBA with a record of 5-21. The Sun didn't shoot the ball all that well in Friday's win, but they did play some strong defense and also held a 42-29 advantage on the boards in the game, which is something that they will have to focus on again in order to make it two in a row against the Liberty on Sunday. Look for Marina Mabrey to continue to shine as she did Friday and as she has all season, but it is worth taking a chance on players who will have a lower salary such as Leila Lacan and Olivia Nelson-Ododa, both who have played some strong basketball off the bench for Connecticut.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy
Next up on the schedule Sunday is a contest between one team on the rise and another team falling down the standings as of late.
Atlanta has been a pleasant surprise to this point in the season, sitting as a top three or four team in the WNBA nearly all year. The Dream are right on the heels of the struggling Liberty to take over second place in the standings, holding a record of 17-11 with a two-game winning streak that most recently saw a 23-point victory over Phoenix on Friday. Atlanta still has some work to do on the defensive end of the floor before the postseason begins, but it has been strong offensively with the third-best offensive rating in the league over the last 10 contests. The guard play of Allisha Gray and Jordin Canada will continue to pace the Dream, but look for a player like Brionna Jones to step up Sunday, especially since Brittney Griner (neck) will remain sidelined.
Washington started the season in the heart of the postseason race and in the middle of the standings, but the team has fallen off a bit with a 5-5 record over its last 10 games to sit at 13-14 overall and in ninth place in the WNBA. The Mystics have done a nice job all season on the defensive end of the floor, which could play a key role in Sunday's game, but offensively they haven't been able to get much going as of late with the second-lowest offensive rating in the league. With Aaliyah Edwards (wrist) still banged up, Shakira Austin will continue to step up for Washington like she has over the past 10 games as the team's leading scorer. Additionally, DFS managers always have to consider adding rookies Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen to lineups, both of whom are playing like veterans rather than rookies.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy
In the middle of the five-game slate Sunday, a battle between Indiana and Seattle should be an entertaining one even without Caitlin Clark (groin) in the lineup.
Indiana enters the game as one of the hottest teams in the league as of late, winners of four straight while sitting at 7-3 over its last 10 games to compile a record of 16-12 and move into a tie with Seattle for the fifth seed. Over the four-game winning streak, the Fever have posted the fourth-best offensive rating (108.2) to go along with the third-best defensive rating (97.0), with the two-way play of the team showing up big in key moments over the last week-plus. Leading the charge over the winning stretch has been Kelsey Mitchell, averaging a team-best 21.8 points over the last four games. Expect Mitchell to continue to carry the load Sunday, as well as the duo of Aari McDonald and Aliyah Boston pitching in as they have often as of late.
Seattle heads into Sunday coming off a close double-overtime loss to Los Angeles on Friday, a loss that moved the Storm into a tie for the fifth seed while tallying a 5-5 record over the last 10 contests. Seattle's defense has led the way over the last five games, leading the WNBA in defensive rating (95.3), but it has struggled offensively with the second-worst offensive rating (99.3) over that same stretch. On Sunday, look for the duo of Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins to lead the charge to get Seattle back into the win column, but also consider taking a chance on Gabby Williams, who has shined for the Storm this season, especially as of late.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy
Going into the evening games Sunday, this matchup will be between two teams who are trying to find answers and get things back on track while on multi-game losing streaks.
Phoenix has cooled off as of late, entering Sunday with a slim lead on the fourth seed and an equally as slim gap between it and the third seed. The Mercury are riding a two-game losing streak and are 4-6 over their last 10 games to bring them to 16-11 on the year. One area that has haunted Phoenix specifically over the losing streak has been its defensive effort, posting a league-worst 122.4 defensive rating in both of those losses. That needs to be corrected, and Sunday could be the game that takes place. The trio of Alyssa Thomas, Satou Sabally and Kahleah Copper have dominated for the Mercury over the last five games, so look for them to continue to shine. Thomas especially stands out for this matchup, as she will have a favorable matchup in the paint against an injury-filled Sky squad.
Chicago, on the other hand, has nearly hit rock bottom with a league-long seven-game losing streak, in part because of the lengthy list of injuries spread throughout the roster and with key players. The Sky have struggled in multiple areas this season, resulting in the team quickly dropping down the standings and sitting at just 7-20 overall. With the key injuries on the team, especially a player like Angel Reese (back), who will miss Sunday's game, Kamilla Cardoso is a player who has stepped up and will need to continue to do so for Chicago, especially in a matchup like the one it will have against Phoenix. Outside of Cardoso, Rachel Banham is worth taking a chance on and considering in DFS lineups, taking her play up a notch as of late with a team-best 16.0 points per game over her last five outings.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy
The fifth and final game of the day Sunday is the evening showdown between Golden State and Las Vegas, which consists of one team trying to continue its winning ways and the other desperately trying to figure things out.
Golden State has once again surprised many, not getting phased by injuries to centerpiece players like Kayla Thornton (knee) and Tiffany Hayes (leg) and putting together a strong season that currently has it in seventh place at 14-13 while riding a three-game winning streak. Over those last three games, the Valkyries have been a lockdown defensive team, posting the second-best defensive rating in the WNBA (97.7). A few players who have stepped up with injuries on the team have been Veronica Burton and Janelle Salaun, who will need to produce yet again, especially if Hayes doesn't play Sunday. Burton and Salaun could be under-the-radar adds to DFS lineups for managers who are getting close to the salary cap.
Las Vegas will be determined, potentially more than ever Sunday after coming off a blowout loss to the Lynx on Saturday that saw the Aces lose by 53 points while giving up 111 points to Minnesota. Even though it is the second night of a back-to-back set for Las Vegas, this could be a frustration prove-it game against Golden State to ensure Saturday's outcome doesn't happen again. If that does indeed occur, expect big performances from A'ja Wilson and Jackie Young, who have done all they can for Las Vegas, especially over the last five games. Behind them, Jewell Loyd could be worth a look in DFS lineups as a third-option behind Wilson and Young on Sunday.
WNBA DFS Picks Today
FanDuel
- Aliyah Boston ($7,800)
- Kamilla Cardoso ($6,800)
- Satou Sabally ($6,600)
While the Fever have tended to alternate production among several players while Caitlin Clark (groin) has been sidelined, Boston has been a significant contributor and should continue to have plenty of opportunities Sunday. Cardoso is a talented frontcourt option who has been especially productive when Angel Reese (back) has been sidelined this year. Although Satou Sabally has been slightly less reliable than Alyssa Thomas recently, Sabally has a more reasonable salary and should have ample opportunities to succeed against the injury-riddled Sky.
Value Plays
- Sonia Citron ($6,000)
- Jewell Loyd ($5,400)
DraftKings
- Sabrina Ionescu ($11,800)
- Shakira Austin ($10,600)
- Allisha Gray ($10,500)
While the Liberty have been dealing with several injuries recently, Ionescu has remained healthy and should continue to be a cornerstone for the team Sunday. After dealing with some minutes restrictions earlier this season, Austin has been among the most efficient players in the league recently and should be strong as a scorer and on the boards against Atlanta. Gray is in the midst of a career-best season and has scored in double figures in eight consecutive appearances, averaging 18.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals in 33.9 minutes per game during that time.
Value Plays
- Kiki Iriafen ($8,300)
- Marine Johannes ($6,000)
