WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy

The Wings remain last in the Western Conference standings, and aside from the fact that they've won only eight games all season long, they've also dropped four of the last five and two in a row. Thus, it shouldn't be a surprise to see them as huge underdogs against a title contender like the Liberty. New York has also been in a bit of funk of late and went on to lose four in a row before defeating the Sun by a score of 87-78 on Sunday. The Liberty will remain depleted with several rotation pieces still sidelined, meaning most of the pressure to start a new winning streak will fall on the shoulders of players such as Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. The loss of Breanna Stewart (leg) is the most sizable one by a wide margin.

The Mystics are favorites in this game and, at least on paper, they should be able to get past the challenge of the Sky even if they've been slumping of late. Washington has lost two consecutive matchups and three of its last four games following a 99-83 loss at the hands of the Dream on Saturday. However, the Sky are in the midst of the league's longest losing skid and have lost eight in a row. They've also lost their last six at home, so Chicago has certainly been in a tailspin but will get a slight boost Tuesday since Ariel Atkins is slated to return to action. The Sky have the second-worst record in the league and only sit ahead of the Sun in terms of winning percentage.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy

Perhaps one of the most intriguing matchups on paper on Tuesday's slate, the Sparks sit at sixth place in the Western Conference standings but have been trending in the right direction after winning four of their last five games. Their 12-15 record isn't impressive, but their recent run of results has been encouraging, especially after their 108-106 overtime win over the Storm on Friday. The Fever have reached unexpected heights this season, and they're looking like a legit title contender thanks to the excellent play of their star names, especially Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, since Caitlin Clark (groin) remains out. The Fever are on a five-game winning streak and have won eight of their last 10 contests.

The Sun's struggles have been well documented this season, and while they've shown some signs of life after a 2-3 stretch in their last five games, they continue to hold the worst record in the league with a 5-22 mark, and they're the only team in the league with a winning percentage below .200. As for the Mercury, they haven't been at their best recently and also share a 2-3 mark over their last five games, but their 83-67 victory over the Sky on Sunday should act as a confidence booster for a team that enters Tuesday's slate second in the Western Conference standings.

WNBA DFS Showdown Picks and Lineup Building Strategy

There's no question this matchup between Seattle and Minnesota is the biggest game of the five-game slate on Tuesday -- and for good reason. Minnesota not only sits at the top of the Western Conference standings, but the team's 24-5 record is the best in the WNBA by a wide margin. The team has also won four of its last five outings, but the Lynx will have to find a way to keep this impressive run going without MVP candidate Napheesa Collier, who is set to miss at least two weeks while rehabbing from an ankle sprain. As for the Storm, they've struggled a bit of late, and their 78-74 loss to the Fever on Sunday was their third loss in the last four games. Despite the recent rough patch, the Storm sit at third in the Western Conference standings with a 16-13 record. A win over the Lynx would solidify their status as a potential title contender.

WNBA DFS Picks Today

FanDuel

It's not surprising to see Thomas with one of the highest salaries on this slate, as she's been an absolute difference-maker in fantasy regardless of the format. The star forward is coming off a triple-double in the 83-67 win over the Sky on Sunday, finishing with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists across 30 minutes. She's also posted either a double-double or a triple-double in each of her previous five outings. With averages of 20.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game during that stretch, she should be a popular pick in most lineups.

The same thing could be said about Ionescu and Jones, as both should carry the Liberty in the absence of Breanna Stewart (leg). Ionescu struggled mightily in late June and early July, but she seems to have turned things around and is coming off scoring a season-best 36-point performance against Connecticut on Sunday. Ionescu, who can be one of the most prolific scorers in the WNBA when she gets hot, has averaged 24.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game over her last eight outings.

As for Jones, she has been remarkably dominant on both ends of the court since returning from a nine-game absence that kept her off the court between June 22 and July 16. Since returning to the hardwood, Jones has averaged 16.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 blocks per game over seven appearances. Ionescu should lead the way on offense for the Liberty, but New York also needs Jones to be at her best, particularly with Stewart sidelined.

Last but not least, DFS managers shouldn't overlook what Boston brings to the table. Even though the play of Caitlin Clark (groin) is one of the big reasons why the Fever are a contending team in the Eastern Conference, Boston has stepped up whenever Indiana has needed her, especially during Clark's absences. Boston has recorded double-doubles in all six of her appearances since the All-Star break, averaging 15.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals across 31.7 minutes per game. The Sparks should focus their defensive plan on trying to slow Boston down, but she continues to prove time and time again that she has enough resources to carry the Fever offensively every time she steps on the court.

DraftKings

Alyssa Thomas and Sabrina Ionescu have the highest salaries on this slate in DraftKings, but they've already been covered in the FanDuel section. Here are other options you can also consider on DraftKings:

Even though the Sparks will be underdogs in their matchup against the Fever, it makes sense to target Plum due to her extremely high floor and the fact that she should carry the team offensively regardless of how the game unfolds. The All-Star guard is averaging career-high numbers in points (20.3), rebounds (3.3), assists (6.0) and steals (1.4) per game this season. She's also on a run of scoring at least 20 points in four consecutive appearances and six of her last seven outings. That should be enough reason to target her early and often in most slates.

Even though she doesn't have the experience that the eight-year veteran Plum possesses, it's worth noting that Bueckers has already turned several heads as a rookie in the 2025 WNBA season. One of the strongest areas of her game has been her scoring prowess, and the fact that she plays for a struggling Dallas team hasn't stopped her from being a huge fantasy asset. She's averaged 18.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game over her last 10 appearances, a span in which she's also made 35 percent of her three-point attempts.

Williams isn't known for being an elite scoring weapon, but it wouldn't be surprising to see her experience an uptick on offense and on her usage rate due to the absence of Napheesa Collier (ankle). Williams has dished out at least nine assists in each of her last three appearances, and she's putting up 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game in her 13 appearances since the beginning of July. She's a strong bet to experience more touches on offense with Collier out.

Finally, it'd be wise to look at Cardoso on this slate. Although the Sky have been struggling massively and could suffer another heavy loss in this matchup against the Mystics, Cardoso has been one of the team's few reliable fantasy options. The second-year center has recorded six consecutive double-doubles following the All-Star break, averaging 13.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.8 blocks per game over that stretch. She's recorded either double-digit points or rebounds in all but two of her 10 appearances since the beginning of July, averaging 12.2 points and 10.2 boards per game in that stretch while shooting 46.1 percent from the floor.
