Yahoo DFS Football: Week 16 Picks

Yahoo DFS Football: Week 16 Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Football series.

The Sunday-only NFL main slate for Week 16 features 13 games, excluding the Redskins-Titans (Saturday early), Ravens-Chargers (Saturday late) and Broncos-Raiders (Monday Night Football). There's some fantasy star power being taken off the table, but that still leaves plenty of options ready to pop in Sunday's games, including two of the league's most consistently productive wide receivers and a pair of inexpensive Jets.

TOURNAMENTS (GPP – GUARANTEED PRIZE POOL)

QB: Dak Prescott, DAL vs. TB ($32): Prescott has alternated good games and bad ones over the past six, and he should continue that pattern at home against Tampa Bay's 27th-ranked secondary, bouncing back from last week's dud in Indianapolis. In his three previous high points during this stretch, Dak scored 21.70, 27.36 and 26.40 fantasy points. Prescott's floor is still quite low, but his ability to make plays with his legs coupled with the presence of a true No. 1 wide receiver in Amari Cooper makes him an intriguing pick in this favorable matchup.

RB: Dalvin Cook, MIN at DET ($23): Cook finally looked healthy last week, shredding the Dolphins' defense for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Some trepidation about using Cook is understandable considering that was just the third time he's exceeded 10 carries in a game this season, but Minnesota appears to be morphing into a team that relies more on running and defense with Kirk Cousins' stats declining in recent weeks. Cook's available at a bargain due to his recent injury issues, so you likely won't be able to get such a talented player at such an affordable valuation for much longer.

WR: Robby Anderson, NYJ vs. GB ($15): Anderson and Sam Darnold were just starting to build chemistry earlier this season when injuries to both the speedy wide receiver and the rookie quarterback put that process on hold. Now that both are healthy again, the Darnold to Anderson connection has thrived to the tune of 172 yards and two touchdowns over the past two weeks. Anderson is the clear-cut No. 1 receiver for the Jets with Quincy Enunwa battling an ankle injury, and his big-play ability gives him a tremendous ceiling here.

Other Against-the-Grainers

QB: Aaron Rodgers (GB, $32); Drew Brees (NO, $35)
RB: Christian McCaffrey (CAR, $38); Saquon Barkley (NYG, $36); Sony Michel (NE, $20)
WR: Tyler Lockett (SEA, $21); Michael Thomas (NO, $29); Amari Cooper (DAL, $29)
TE: Evan Engram (NYG, $15); Cameron Brate (TB, $14)
DST: Jacksonville Jaguars ($11); Indianapolis Colts ($13)

CASH GAMES (H2H, 50/50s and DOUBLE UPS)

Quarterback

Baker Mayfield, CLE vs. CIN ($30): The Bengals give up the fourth-most passing yards per game (270.6) and second-most points per game (29.5). With multiple touchdown passes in six of his past eight games and 397 passing yards in one of the other two, Mayfield has displayed more than enough aptitude at the quarterback position in the second half of his rookie campaign to take advantage of this favorable matchup. With the Browns still clinging to delusions of a playoff appearance, look for them to keep their foot on the gas against this vulnerable opponent, to Mayfield's benefit.

Running Back

Chris Carson, SEA vs. KC ($21)

Carson's a workhorse, having carried the ball 22 times in each of the past two games for a combined 209 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Seattle will need to give its defense as much time to rest as possible against the explosive Chiefs offense, and the best way to do that is by keeping the ball on the ground and chewing clock. Carson's volume against a generous defense that's allowing 126.9 rushing yards per game should rival that of the top running backs in this slate, yet he costs less than 14 others at the position.

Elijah McGuire, NYJ vs. GB ($16)

McGuire's the only other dangerous skill position player on the Jets besides Anderson, and the second-year running back should get all the touches he can handle with Isaiah Crowell on injured reserve due to a toe issue. In two weeks as New York's workhorse, McGuire's logged 35 carries and six catches for 154 scrimmage yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns. That production came against a pair of top-10 run defenses in Buffalo and Houston, so McGuire should receive an equally heavy workload while finding more breathing room against Green Bay's 22nd-ranked unit.

Wide Receiver

Davante Adams, GB at NYJ ($33)

Adams is having a fabulous season as Aaron Rodgers' only trustworthy target, either topping 100 yards or scoring a touchdown in every game this season but one. That Week 4 tilt against Buffalo in which he failed to hit either target was still a respectable outing in its own right, as Adams compiled eight catches for 81 yards on 14 targets. Assuming Rodgers plays through his groin injury, Adams should have no problem providing strong value at $33.

Robert Woods, LAR ar ARI ($25)

Woods brings a tremendous floor, having posted over 60 yards and at least four catches in every game since failing to reach those marks in Week 1. He's also eclipsed 100 receiving yards three times, so Woods' ceiling isn't too shabby, either. Unlike most of his teammates, Woods also has nearly identical home/road splits, so he should be just fine traveling to Arizona.

Robert Foster, BUF at NE ($13)

Foster's quietly enjoying a late-season breakout for Buffalo, having racked up 94 or more receiving yards in four of the past five weeks. The big-play threat is a perfect match for Josh Allen's big arm, and the Bills are likely to throw the ball often since they'll probably fall behind and are battling the injury bug at the running back position. At just $13 against a Patriots defense that's allowing 256.5 passing yards per game, Foster should produce while also leaving plenty of room to spend big on other positions.

Tight End

Rob Gronkowski, NE vs. BUF ($18)

Gronkowksi loves to face the Bills, who have never been able to stop him from doing what he wants on the football field, be it scoring touchdowns or elbowing a defenseless player on the ground in the head after an interception. His 69 catches for 1,070 yards and 12 touchdowns in 14 games against Buffalo all represent career highs against any opponent, easily eclipsing his greatest totals against other teams (63 catches against the Jets, 839 yards against the Dolphins and nine touchdowns against each). The tight end's coming off a down week on the road but should bounce back along with the rest of New England's offense at home, where the Patriots have yet to lose this season.

Defense/Special Teams

Los Angeles Rams, LAR at ARI ($21)

The Rams should be worth paying up for this week considering they're going to be in the mood to thrash a hapless opponent after dropping each of the past two games. Arizona's offense is as hapless as it gets, having just allowed a Falcons defense that averages 4.6 fantasy points to score 20.0. Los Angeles has been more than twice as good as Atlanta this season with 9.3 average fantasy points per game, so this one could get really ugly for the Cardinals.

Honorable Mentions

QB: Tom Brady (NE, $31); Russell Wilson (SEA, $33)
RB: Marlon Mack (IND, $25); Joe Mixon (CIN, $29); Nick Chubb (CLE, $32)
WR: DeAndre Hopkins (HOU, $30); Doug Baldwin (SEA, $18); Antonio Brown (PIT, $32)
TE: Zach Ertz (PHI, $24); David Njoku (CLE, $14)
DST: Miami Dolphins ($17); Chicago Bears ($21)
