Chicago Bears RB Roles
Team: Chicago Bears
Last Update:   4/27/2024
RB Overview
Role Security: High
04/27/24 After adding D'Andre Swift in free agency, Swift will be expected to serve as the primary RB on early downs. It's possible that Swift takes on a three-down role, but Roschon Johnson has been a solid pass protector and could see significant work on passing downs. It would seem that Khalil Herbert will see minimal work as the No. 3 RB.
WR Overview
04/27/24 DJ Moore will be the primary receiver and should lead in target share. After trading for Keenan Allen, the veteran should serve as the No. 2 receiver, seeing plenty of work by running possession routes. Chicago used the No. 9 pick in the draft to select Rome Odunze. It seems likely that Odunze will be on the field in three-receiver sets. In those situations, Allen could move to the slot while Odunze works on the outside. Although Odunze could see a solid number of targets, the likelihood of the rookie not being a full-time player could limit his fantasy ceiling. In 2023, Tyler Scott saw regular snaps, but he was rarely targeted. Scott likely opens the offseason as the No. 4 receiver by default. The duo of Velus Jones and Dante Pettis will likely battle for depth roles.
TE Overview
04/27/24 Cole Kmet is expected to retain a three-down role as the lead TE. However, Gerald Everett was acquired in the offseason. Everett could see some target volume if the Bears choose to feature formations with two tight ends on the field.
