Houston Texans RB Roles
Team: Houston Texans
Last Update:   4/28/2024
RB Overview
Role Security: Very High
04/27/24 The Texans traded for Joe Mixon. With very little competition on the roster, look for Mixon to see all the work he can handle. Mixon should be heavily used as a runner and receiver. In addition, he should dominate goal-line carries. Dameon Pierce could see a few touches per game when Mixon needs rest. Sixth-round rookie Jawhar Jordan could challenge Pierce for backup duties.
WR Overview
04/27/24 Nico Collins emerged into an alpha receiver last year. In most games, Collins should see significant targets. Collins is also very good in the red zone. Newly acquired Stefon Diggs could emerge as a co-No. 1 with Collins. It's also possible that Diggs proves to be the team's best receiver in training camp. if that happens, Diggs could be the team's top receiver. Based on what we saw last year, Tank Dell may be the best No. 3 receiver in the league. Dell had a number of big games, but his production was often inconsistent. The Texans may need to have a big number of pass attempts for Dell to see enough work to match his 2023 production. Robert Woods, Noah Brown, John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson will compete for depth roles. Brown showed the most upside last year, though he also had games in which he didn't catch any passes.
TE Overview
04/27/24 Dalton Schultz should continue to be the lead receiving TE. His targets will likely be inconsistent. With Houston now having three excellent WRs, Schultz may see a significant drop in targets from 2023. Brevin Jordan and fourth-round rookie Cade Stover will provide depth.
