Indianapolis Colts RB Roles
Team: Indianapolis Colts
Last Update:   4/27/2024
RB Overview
Role Security: Very High
04/27/24 Jonathan Taylor should see most of the RB touches. Taylor will be heavily used near the goal line, though he could come on on some obvious passing downs. Trey Sermon and Evan Hull will compete to see which player occasionally sees the field when Taylor steps off. Hull was injured last season, but he could emerge as the receiving RB.
WR Overview
04/27/24 Michael Pittman should lead the WRs in targets. Pittman is also a big target when the Colts need an option in the red zone. Josh Downs lines up in the slot, Downs will play the majority of snaps, though he may not be an every down player. The Colts used the No. 52 pick in the draft to select Adonai Mitchell. Alec Pierce has been an outside starting receiver the last two years. Although Mitchell and Pierce may compete for the outside role during training camp, Mitchell likely has a sizable edge. Fifth-round rookie Anthony Gould will provide depth.
TE Overview
04/27/24 Currently, Kylen Granson sits atop the depth chart. However, the Colts mix in their TEs liberally, and it's impossible to know which one gets targets in a given week. Aside from Granson, Mo Alie-Cox, Jelani Woods and Will Mallory will compete for work. Finally, Drew Ogletree (Commisioner's Exempt List) will need to be cleared before regaining a role in the offense.
