New York Giants RB Roles
Team: New York Giants
Last Update:   4/27/2024
RB Overview
Role Security: Medium
04/27/24 Devin Singletary is expected to open the season as the lead RB. Singletary could see work on passing downs and near the goal line as well. Eric Gray and fifth-round rookie Tyrone Tracy will compete for at least some of Singletary's role during training camp. For now, Gray or Tracy could see change-of-pace work. Gary Brightwell and Deon Jackson will compete for depth roles.
WR Overview
04/27/24 The Giants used to No. 6 pick in the draft to select Malik Nabers. Expect the rookie to be the alpha receiver and dominate targets. Even though the Giants lack elite QB play, Nabers should see heavy volume. Darius Slayton is likely to line up across from Nabers as a starting receiver. However, 2023 draft pick Jalin Hyatt has a similar skillset to Slayton. Although Slayton is a starter, Hyatt may have a chance to compete for that role during training camp. Wan'Dale Robinson is the team's top possession receiver, which should lead to strong target volume from the slot. Isaiah McKenzie will likely play a rotational role in the slot.
TE Overview
04/27/24 Darren Waller is the lead TE but missed significant time in 2023 due to injuries. If healthy, Waller may see strong target volume. However, Waller has publicly stated that he is contemplating retirement. In the fourth round of the 2024 draft, the Giants selected Theo Johnson. The rookie profiles as a receiving tight end. As a result, if Waller opts not to play, Johnson could be the primary receiving tight end. Daniel Bellinger should see occasional targets in the No. 2 role. It's unlikely that Waller and Johnson would be on the field at the same time, as Bellinger is likely the best blocker of the three.
